Fun Southern Cooking Cookbook
This is my .25 cent score from the library book sale today. It's a newer cookbook (2007), runs 400 pages without photos, and had delightful little side notes about the history, the recipes, and the people in Southern cooking. Just this morning I've learned about the history of Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and RC Cola and Moon Pies!

Hemp Food- Recipes, Resources and Stories
I noticed that there was no feed on the topic of hemp food. Being an advocate of all the uses of hemp, Food Fiber Fuel and Medicine, I wanted to start a thread here where I will be posting some of my hemp recipes in writing and video. Please contribute any recipe ideas, experiences and things to try with hemp as the base…

Winter Squash Loves - the Not Zucchini Show
Someone posted a thread on zucchini and the myriads of recipes to make marvelous tasting zucchini dishes. Sadly, I hate zucchini, in spite of the many ways to prepare it, many of which are delicious (in spite of the fact that it has zucchini in it). Now pumpkins - there are so many varieties of winter squash, pumpkins,…

How many cucumber salads can you make...
Cucumbers are one of my favorite things. Pickles, too. I like to make crunchy salads that I can then put inside Vietnamese Summer Rolls, or sushi; I also like to make less crunchy salads. Hortikia is one of my favorite salads, which relies on cucumber. If I'm making hortikia, and there are extra cukes, making up some…

New Cocktail Recipes - Variations on Old Favs and some Unique Ingredients
Following is a link to Edible (in my case Edible Vancouver) Magazine's page of new cocktail recipes. Some are very different.Like the Smoky Beet Shrub. Who would have thought! I think it would go nicely with any type of liquor besides the recommended gin. Or just nice as a Mocktail. I think the Quince Liqueur recipe could…

Limoncello or not!
So roughly 3 yrs ago and an excessive amount of fresh lemons, I decided to make some homemade Limoncello. Lots of lemon peel soaked in vodka, roughly 6 weeks and then make sugar syrup and sweeten to taste. Made up a few gift bottles for Xmas that year and they went down a treat. Last weekend while I was having a clean-up…

Shrimp and chicken jambalaya....best $3 pot of food I've made in a long time!
Actually, this is one of the best meals I've ever had! Well, y'all know I'm part Creole French... so I made this without a recipe, mostly from leftovers, just based on the flavors I know and love. A few days ago, I poached some croakers (small salt water drum.. but most any fish would do) to make fish cakes. Croaker are…

Carrot greens are edible, recipes!
I was always told that they were poisonous. I read on this site that they are sweet, full of nutrients and taste like carrot & parsley. I also read someone's comments about them being bitter. I suspect the flavor profile might change with soil & moisture conditions. I have a few questions for anyone who might know... 1.…

Looking for Chutney...
Chutneys can be a great flavor addition to many meals :) In an Indian restaurant, my husband and I once had a fabulous chutney that we recently found out was called Tamarind or Imli Chutney. A blend of sweet and spice, this was a fabulous accompaniment to the rice and meat dishes we were served. Since then, I have been…
