Double extraction of tinctures? Yes/No? Safe/Unsafe?
I was reading a blog (I know you can't believe everything on the internet) about double extracting tinctures to increase potency of the herbal extract. This blogger said to do your normal extract and then do it a second time with that extract and fresh/dried herbs. Now here is my issue, if the recommendation of dosing is…

CBD Tincture question

So material is soaked for a week or so in vodka, then strained and the infused vodka is the simmered over very low heat in a…

Fireweed Jelly
Serendipity is a wonderful thing. There has been a recent discussion about Crab Apple Jelly as well as one about what plants to use for a Foraging Garden and Fireweed entered that discussion. So this morning a newsletter arrived in my e-mail and had this recipe for Fireweed Jelly! It uses commercial pectin and lemon juice…

Am I the only person on earth who doesn't like the smell of lavender???
Seriously, I feel so alone in this! I know how wonderful lavender is, and for this reason I do have lavender herb and essential oil, but I just don't like it. We use it for one of my daughters to help with her migraines, but it gives one of my sons headaches. Please tell me I am not the only one!

If you could only have ONE essential oil in your medicine cabinet, what would it be?
I am new to embracing essential oils and passionate about learning how they can steer us away from man-made medicines. Have purchased a small starter kit and would love your input. Thank you!

Anyone ever made their own fever reducing or anti-nausea suppositories for all ages?
My daughters 10 month old recently caught a bug, first one ever in her life, and was teetering around 104.5-104.7 fever. We are both woke nurses and understand the importance of a fever but were also a bit freaked out, so I did a bit of research, put together a blend of catnip, calendula, and spearmint to make a tea, then…

Do anyone make gummies as part of their cold/flu prevention and what flavors do you make?
I know of Elderberry Gummies but was wondering if anyone makes a different flavor. I was thinking maybe blueberry, mango/pinapple, strawberry or grape. The grandkids get tired of just one flavor.

Buying herbs on Etsy?
Would you purchase herbs or tinctures on Etsy? There are some things that we use that are difficult to come by, so Etsy seems like it might be a reasonable choice. There is a local woman selling some things on Craigslist as well. I am torn between my "small, local business support" ethic and wanting to be assured of what…

Astragalus question
I am researching Astragalus (Chinese milkvetch). I would like to know if any of the wild varieties in Canada are similar in action to Huang qi. It is for a poultry health formula. If I could use something local & wildcraft it, that would be preferable over buying it from an herbalist shop when dealing with 50 or so…
