Not one, but two rose galls!
I was pretty excited to see these this evening, both on my "Katherine Seyton" Eglantine rose. Sorry for the poor quality pics, but it was too fun not to share. The fuzzy one is my favorite of course. They're caused by wasp, but are fairly harmless. I've never interfered with them.

Staple crops and self sufficiency
Article on easy to grow staple crops. I already have the amaranth and potatoes. Might try one or tow of the others. Tire planters make good trial containers.
