What week to switch from Chick to normal feed?
they are at almost six weeks. How much longer until we switch the feed? Its ranging between 50 and 60 degrees now. Should I put them outside now or wait another few weeks? I let them go out during the day for a few hours and bring them back in.

brooder for the babies
So far so good. I have six chicks in there for a week now. I think they are about 2 weeks old. I got them last week. Is this brooder a good size for 2 weeks olds? What are the signs that I need to move them into something bigger?

Will this work for a brooder? I just got them today and want to make sure they are comfortable. Im using a heating mat specifically for chicks instead of a lamp that was suggested from a friend on here and said that it works great for them. How often should. I clean the bedding?

letting them out of the coop
I will admit Im not really a morning person but I know im gonna have to be to be responsible with the chickens. Whats the latest time in the morning that it would be ok to let them out? I know there are automatic sliding doors I can use but I doubt I will go that route.

Oyster shells as calcium supplement
In the past, our chickens ate very little of the oyster shell calcium supplement. By putting in a small amount (10%) crushed corn, the calcium becomes a special treat that disappears quickly. The eggs no longer break so easily since the shells have become much harder.
