Do you add something special to your soups or stews?
Do you have a special or secret ingredient to your soups and stews? On the Oregon coast they have seafood and there is a place called "Mo's". They sell the best clam chowder and we used to be able to get a base mixture of the recipe in a certain store locally and in the Willamette Valley. I don't know if they have it now…

Sweet or savoury porridge?
In my family & most Aussie people I know, we eat porridge-oatmeal for breakfast, especially in winter. Usually sweet, with different accompaniments; brown sugar & cream, fruit & yoghurt, honey & nuts etc. I usually do porridge + chia seeds with yoghurt, turmeric, cinnamon, nuts, honey, fruit & psyllium husks + oat milk. I…

Food as Medicine
I thought this was an interesting article about adapting recipes for different dietary needs. Processed Meat Exercise
While doing an exercise for my Nutrition Certification course on processed meats, I discovered that a meat most of us have eaten as kids (and possibly some still today) seems to have more additives than meat. Smoothies w/bone broth & local foods (ie not bananas
I have been following Sally Fallon for a long time. She is the founder of the Westin A. I make bone broth in an untreated (read:breakable) clay crock pot almost every day from her encouragement. One of her…

Don't Preheat Your Oven
I've always felt kind of guilty for just throwing stuff into the oven without preheating it. According to this article, it only matters for recipes that have a leavening agent. And I do love crispy skin on my chicken. Don’t Preheat Your Oven Before Cooking Chicken Thighs (lifehacker.com)

Leftover cornbread recipe
I experimented with leftover cornbread from Thanksgiving and used it as the topping for a crumble. I turned the cornbread into crumbs, mine was soft enough to accomplish this by hand.
