Homeschoolers, check in here!
I have been noticing a large influx of newbies who homeschool. I would like us to connect & be able to support each other as we delve into the TGN world of growing our own food & medicine, self reliance, etc. Some say that these things naturally go together, as can home birth & dads trying to figure out how to be at home…

Whether you either deciding to start homeschooling, or now having to school your kids at home (public school at home), or do video/virtual school (the last two aren't actually homeschooling by definition), I would like to offer help to make things flow a bit easier. It is never an easy transition, especially if one is…

There is northern lights out now and tomorrow evening. We missed yesterday's. There's an extra bonus tonight & tomorrow evening. Jupiter & Venus are very bright together on the western horizon. Tomorrow they will appear only a finger width apart. Planets are usually very bright, do not twinkle, and don't move quickly like…

Teens fundraising & small business ideas
Physical work makes resilient kids, so I figured this question fits in this space. Besides the usual door to door selling of company products for a percentage (this is less welcomed all the time), does anyone have great ideas for kids to fundraise for events? Or to build an entrepreneurial business? I would like to see our…

Graphics charts (Various)
I came across this site that has very interesting visuals demonstrating so many topics. Truly, these graphics cover so much. My introduction to it was the actual size of countries (so, landmass) in comparison to each other. I found that chart very intriguing. I contacted the company who produced it about a map, but I'm not…

Project of the day...what is yours?
This little coop was our project of the day. We got this little kit on a great sale (they are so overpriced for what you get). Normally it was $222, but on sale for $80. I thought that it would be a great learning project for our "builder" in the family. Here is the result. I thought it would be larger, but it works for…

Everything in life is an adventure, some not so pleasant as other but all are a learning experience. I have been quiet here lately and its because life has been challenging, a bit painful but also a time of reflection. Many of you know I took care of my mom for years and the last year has been more demanding, tiring but…

Today was baking day!
There was no cheese in the press, and it is blowing the snow around like crazy outside, so yeast breads were baked today! Some have raspberry jam some are cinnamon-sugar…

Teaching Kids
It is true that if you go about your day, teaching kids what you feel is important...as in Deuteronomy 11:19, they will learn & retain that knowledge for the day and time it is needed. As much as this is speaking to Israelites to talk about their knowledge & experiences with their children about what God did, this is wise…

Unearthing long forgotten treasures
The kids were out in the pasture today when they discovered something strange poking out of the ground, so they started digging. This something ended up being a heavy horse bit. So, they kept digging and have now found most of a harness. When we first moved here, we discovered a bit of cement poking out from a bunch of…

Hilarious
I spent the evening water coloring with my daughter. I made a bookmark with a daisy on it and added a few ants for fun. She looked over and said, “You should add a few aphids.” Such an accurate commentary on what I grow!

Gardening with children
I am a firm believer in getting children top garden and adding it to school, towns, or any community areas. One thing I do to encourage children to garden is to grow unusual veggies, flowers or plants to get them to ask questions or want to grow their own little garden area Do you grow unusual plants that may encourage a…

Natural band aid
This was on Justin Rhodes site and I thought it was interesting. For a cut, clean the wound as much as possible, ease the skin edges from end to end together. Taking the inside raw membrane of an egg, pull away from the shell and be careful not to touch any part of the membrane that would be used to cover the wound. Apply…
