Pitchfork/Composting fork recommendations?
Do you have a good recommendation or experience using a pitchfork or composting fork? I am so excited-- after years of wanting to try it, I finally have a good source for green and brown material enough to try "Berkeley Method" or Geoff Lawton-style composting. This uses a very large pile, minimum five feet high, to…

Talk to me about garden gloves
I have to wear gloves because I WILL get a splinter. If there is one tiny fiber like thing in the soil it will find my skin and make things so uncomfortable! But I must be super hard on garden gloves. 3 to 5 uses and my hands end up just as dirty with stained gross nails as if I didn’t wear any. I do get far less slivers…

Best heat mat for seed starting?
I tried starting seeds without the best success last year, and want to give it a go again this year with the addition of a heat mat for seed starting. Grow Lights

Question regarding 'seed starting' heating mats and thermostats
Need the mats and a thermostat inparticular for some pepper seeds. All the other seeds in all my years starting plants from seed...have all done well. Really need them for the peppers seeds and don't know which mats and thermostats are worth the money.... ??? Any preferences you might recommend?

How do you keep your pruners clean and working?
I just had to buy a new set of pruners because my old ones got rusty and I can no longer squeeze them. Both the blade and spring rusted. I must admit I am not very great at taking care of them. What can I do to keep this pair working longer? What is general care for them? How do you sanitize them so things don’t spread?

Do You Have a Homesteading "Secret Weapon"?
Does anyone have any lesser-known tools for gardening or homesteading that they want to let the rest of us in on? I don't know how much of a "secret" it is, but I love my Meadow Creature Broadfork. That thing rips through clay soils, and it could probably take a bullet and keep going. It's my ultimate off-grid garden prep…

Grow lights
I’m thinking of investing in some grow lights for my seed starting this year. I would appreciate any advice on brands, types, sources, etc. Don’t want to pay a mint for them. Prefer something reasonably priced. Does anyone have an opinion on using shop lights? Thanks Grow Network family. I’m constantly learning and growing…
