Brewers Grains

I like to ferment organic grains for pigs and chickens. However, historically, before pasteurization was a requirement in the US, when spent brewers' grains were given to cows, there was a dramatic increase of infant mortality rate in children that drank the milk compared to when cows were fed grass. They found that if they pasteurized the milk, the mortality rate corrected. I don't recall if the book implied if it was because it was spent grain or just a grain diet in general that made the negative change.

That's good to know! These are not milk cows, they are calves we are raising for meat but it may somehow be releveant in that situation as well. I just may do more digging for info!
