My daughter had to give up her entire garden to a driveway and got very creative with her few inches left.  She had a 10 foot Privacy fence to work with and used every inch of it.   She had vining crops at the ends and then ran guttering top to bottom at an angle so she could water at the top and it ran down and watered the whole thing.  She actually discovered she grew three times more food using her wall system so have fun with your new space and create something wonderful!

    That sounds amazing!  How creative!!

If she used gutters, I imagined she grew lots of greens that don't have deep root systems. Beets may work too, onions?
