Carpal tunnel

1. Do Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Exercises and Stretching

2. Eat an Anti-Inflammatory diet and avoid sugar, alcohol and processed foods and sodium intake should be minimal. Diet is closely linked with the amount of inflammation we have in our bodies so eating whole foods that are rich in omega-3s, vitamins, and minerals and getting enough water..the body can not reduce inflammation without being properly hydrated

3. Herbs and supplements taken internally
bromelian
turmeric
ginger root
boswellic acid (active compound in Frankincense ..NOT the essential oil)
calcium and magnesium
white willow bark
gingko biloba
CBD..And of course CBD internally and topically (if you don’t have a salve The Grow Network is selling their own CBD oil that can be taken internally also you can use that topically)

4. homeopathic remedies
Arnica 30c is an excellent homeopathic remedy for pain that feels deep, bruised, and throbbing. As soon as you notice the first signs of carpal tunnel syndrome, pick up a tube of arnica pellets and take the recommended dose for two days. You can also apply arnica cream or arnica gel to the affected area with great results. Using both to oral and topical forms of arnica in tandem is my favorite method to use these remedies.

Causticum 30c is another excellent remedy for recurring or long-lasting carpal tunnel syndrome where the wrist feels bruised with a burning or drawing pain. Symptoms can include a stiffness or contracture in the wrist and forearm. Heat application relieves symptoms.

Hypericum (Hypericum perforatum), aka St. John’s wort, is for symptoms of shooting nerve pain that extends up the arm from the wrist.

Rhus toxicodendron is for pain that feels achy that improves with movement and dry warmth but worsens with inactivity and damp.

Ruta graviolens is for pain that feels stiff, bruised, and aching in the wrist where the wrist itself feels weak from overuse.

5. Herbs to use topically in cream or oil
St. John’s Wort
St. John’s Wort is one of the best nerve healing and nerve restorative herbs. It helps alleviate inflammation and repair damaged nerve tissue.

Arnica
Arnica flowers can also be infused in oil and used to treat pain and inflammation associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Boswellia
Frankincense resin comes from Boswellia trees that are known for their potent anti-inflammatory properties. Simply infuse the powdered resin into oil and warm in a double boiler)

Solomon’s Seal
Solomon’s seal is additional amazing herb for restoring damaged tendons, ligaments, nerves, and other connective tissues back to health. It also reduces pain and inflammation.

Cayenne
Cayenne (aka capsaicin) one of the best natural remedies for carpal tunnel I know of.
If used consistently over several days, cayenne will saturate the affected tissues with all of its anti-inflammatory goodness and reduce pain in the process. This allows the body to repair itself.

6. Essential oils use diluted topically only
Wintergreen essential oil has an analgesic effect. It will actually cool the painful, inflamed area
Cypress oil increases circulation and can, therefore, speed up healing.
helichrysum essential oil, peppermint and frankincense blended.
Use a mixture of cypress and wintergreen oils (and possibly the others mentioned, too). You typically will take about 3-4 drops mixed with a bit of coconut oil. Rub it on the inflamed area 1-3 times daily for fast relief.

Massage, acupuncture.pressure, cranio sacral therapy or healing touch can also help drastically as well.

I also have carpal tunnel (in my left hand which I rarely use lol) and I have used all of these remedies at one time or another for relief.

Happy Healing
Heather

I have it in both hands, but my right hand is the worst.

Thank you for your extensive list. It gives me a place to start. I have done a form of acupressure before and it worked well, but my cousin who does it is not insured, it is so expensive and she is pretty rough, unfortunately. I am not a fan of needles, but may look into accupuncture again. My go-to guy for TCM (acupressure & accupuncture) moved away. :(

The CBD oil is something that probably would not be allowed across the border. I would have to buy here, and I am not sure, but think that I can only get it through a doctor's prescription.

where are you? CBD is OTC legal in the US and Canada, no script necessary. My clients often travel out of the US with it. Should not be hard to obtain.

    Happy healing.

actually if you are in Canada or one of the legal states here in the US you can obtain not only CBD but Cannabis with THC which used topically will not get you high but will melt away pain and inflammation

I checked into the CBD here, and to get just CBD, you have to have a doctor's prescription.

I think that my kids would leave the other (with THC) alone if they knew it was topical only (they don't eat my salves, haha), but I am not sure I want it in my house if there is a risk of them mistaking the leaves for a new tea. :/

It is good to know that topical use won't make you high. That never occured to me to ask anyone. Thanks!

FYI, Heather's #2 topic of 'Eat an Anti-Inflammatory diet' holds soooo much truth to carpal tunnel and arthritis.  All of my carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, sciatic nerve issues and ankle pops/creaking all went away once on a strict gluten free diet was followed.   My joints and nerves are all so much better....

AND, folks need to understand another thing, what's found on their food could be sprayed or soaked on neurotoxins!  Take for only one example Apples.  Do you know there are SEVERAL different neurotoxins and orchard can pick from to spray their trees !
I LOVE this website ... http://www.whatsonmyfood.org/food.jsp?food=AP  Just look down the list.  Most people have neuro issues with Phosmet.  Then click on the column next to it Conventional vs. Organic Farming to see if it's used organically or by contamination to the organic produce.

FYI, just because food is ORGANIC, the transportation industry is NOT.  The same trucks that pick up foods from conventional farming are also used to pick up the organic.  Thus, cross contamination!

So a good diet and avoid neurotoxins helps a good deal for recovery.

Mullein helps the overall immune system of the body due to its anti-inflammatory effects.   It's in the top 5 for carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel troubles.   Mullein grows all over the USA.  It's one of the easiest to make a healing save from too.  Thus, keeps the cost way down for it's benefits.

Heather, I too would recommend CBD or Cannabis, but hold back because even though it's legal by prescription, it could be a game changer working for a company with random drug screening and a zero tolerance policy.   And if you are an older employee, you don't want to give a cause to being unemployed fighting to get your job back.  It would take a few years.  Then, even if you got back in, they will find a legitimate way to remove you.  I've seen this too many times out in the work force.  People who a legit, have a real need, don't abuse the system, ... they become the victim.

Oh thank you for your list.  My husband and I have been aching in our joints and bones these last few frigid days but I was having a day of canning and baking and made a big batch of chocolate chip cookies the old fashion way.   A gentle reminder that not only does it feed cancer but screws up our old joints!   I am repenting and clearing away the offence as I type away.   :-)

Being from Canada, we can also be refused entry, with a possible permanent ban if we answer affirmatively when asked if we have ever used marijuana (or any derivative). It has been happening even after it was legalized here.

As for job loss, that is entirely possible here as well.

As for fully gluten free, one of my friends had carpal tunnel surgery on both of her hands, and she has had to be gluten free since she was a toddler. She is now in her late 40s.

As for pesticides, we do what we can as we hate the chemicals and their negative health impact to us & animals, but exposure here is impossible to avoid. Here is our situation...we are closely surrounded by fields of mainly canola and now soy last year in a close field. They are sprayed either with high booms or by air, and most farmers do not follow laws when it comes to when not to spray (winds). Here, they refuse to give you a heads up (the least of what I could request) so that you can try to minimize by putting animals in or even kids. We have 6 minutes AT BEST if we see or hear the sprayer. I and my kids have been out when the sprayer passed close by...booms spraying, & heavy drift coming into our yard. Grrr. Our house is not air tight, drift can go for miles, washing anything with "residues" doesn't clean it off due to the chemicals' deeply penetrating nature. Even picking homegrown apples at my parents (I freeze 50 4c. bags of apples each fall)...they will have exposure too.

Ah...it makes me thankful for -50 temps. It will all too soon be 5 months of spraying season. :(

my 2 cents.. If someone told you that the government is making all foods with natural levels of vitamin C illegal, would you not still find foods with vitamin C to ensure your overall health?

Laurie, you asked me personally in your post, what I would suggest for a natural remedy for carpal tunnel. I offered advice, and a lot of it, one line was on CBD and specifically I mentioned TGN's CBD which has ZERO chance of having THC. I NEVER EVEN RECOMMENDED CANNABIS TO YOU I offered a Hemp derived CBD which is not a script herb, not even in Canada. Educate your kids on plants or someone else will.

I will end with, Cannabis has been used safely for THOUSANDS of years, no one has ever died from use, not even concentrated use, less than 100 years of refer madness, false information, a failed drug policy and flat out lies is not a concern for me. Like my husband always says, own yourself or someone else will :)

    Happy Healing

I am so sorry, Heather. I was responding to another member's post and should have said so...two members actually. I cannot see who they were at the moment, as I am only seeing 1/2 a screen. In my province, you cannot get CBD even if it has no THC except through a doctor. I have been following this closely for a while now. It might sound odd, but this is how it is...at least for now. Cannabis, you can get.

I am educating my kids about plants, and they have been learning well and listening closely. However, they are still kids. Case in point, one stuck a finger on raw chicken the other day then put it in the mouth. They all know, but this one was just curious. Now, drugs...that is also a topic here as certain cousins have been using.

Again Heather, I always appreciate your advice and input. I respect you greatly. I didn't mean you any offense. I am truly sorry. Please accept my apology.
