Hi Friends,

Watched a great youtube video about making black drawing salve with plantain.  I plan to try this and will let you know what I think.  I make a lot of salves but have not done it this way.

After watching this very interesting video, it made me wonder what I had heard about how heating plantain makes it lose its medicinal properties. Would this only be some and also might you be better off doing a slower oil infusion & mixing it later with the hot pine tar?

Anyone know?

Hi Laurie,

I usually don't heat up my infused oils.

Would like to try this recipe just to check it out, it is so interesting! Will let you friends know the result when I get to it. It may be a couple of weeks.

I didn't try this recipe. I wasn't clear. I am making plantain salve.

This recipe did get my attention, though. It may be a future project.

I was wondering about heating the olive oil that hot too? But interesting. That was a lot of fatwood for such a small amount of pine tar.

@Karyn Pennington I think that I would keep the plantain oil cold and add the hot pine tar afterward to retain the most goodness.

My question is, would this possibly not mix well? Perhaps warming slightly, enough to mix well would be the key.
