Harvesting Your Garden
Do you know the best time to harvest your fruits, vegetables and herbs?
For peak flavor, consistency and just the general "health" of your produce, always try to do your harvesting early in the morning just as the dew is drying off from the night before.
Why?
As the day progresses, the sun and heat of the day actually dries out your produce which results in a loss of flavor and texture. During the coolest periods of the day your produce will always be "crunchier" and will contain all of of its fresh flavor.
So if possible, get out there early in the mornings to get your produce at its prime!

@greyfurball Thank you for sharing. I read some years ago that the same is true for watering. Watering should be done between 4 and 8 AM.

@Obiora E , Yes I agree with you. Early watering gives the moisture time to work its way down thru the soil before the heat of the day sets in. Thus, this small ritual reduces evaporation thus requiring less watering time in your garden.
Isn't it great how Mother Nature has learned to take care of itself as long as we follow her rules and rituals.

@greyfurball How true your statement of Mother Nature is and how wonderful it is she is so patient and forgiving of us while we are learning.
