Help how do you keep from getting mildew on windows?
Our storm windows go on the inside of our windows. In the winter with them on almost every window gets mildew on the inside of the outside window. Does anyone have ideas on what to clean the windows with before I put the storm windows on to prevent this?

I am not sure if you can prevent it from happening, but for cleaning I make a solution of water and baking soda. It will remove and kill the mold and/or mildew.

I have no idea about a preventative other than a dehumidifier. I use cleaning strength vinegar to wipe mine down.

I read that vinegar will kill and get rid of the mildew and that if you wipe it down with the vinegar and let it dry on the window, it will discourage the mildew from even getting started.

I have found that even when spraying & wiping down with vinegar, mold will grow again. Maybe it just slows the start of growth down, but if there is moisture at all, that will water the vinegar residue down and in time, it will grow once again.
