Oh-h-h No... Not Another One!
I've been called pretty weird many times in my life.
It's never bothered me since I know I am really not like most people in several facets of life.
One such situation comes up rather often because I am a gardener. The scenario, when digging, I always pity those little earthworms. I'm always digging into them in my soil and I don't care if he is just a worm. He's one of God's creatures and he has a right to be here just as much as me. So I've always wondered did I kill it?
I read something this morning which gives me some hope. It seems that when you do intentionally or accidentally chop a worm, it depends where you cut into it. If you cut off the tail it will regenerate itself. If you cut thru the digestive system, he will soon be dead. He can not survive. This is for most species of worms although not all.
So since I haven't figured out a foolproof way yet to know when I am going to run into a worm, at least now I know there is some hope for some of them.

Earthworms are an essential part of your soil. I rescue earthworms flushed out onto the concrete after a heavy rain. Of course, they end up in my yard where I cover them lightly with dirt.

They are beneficial, but did you know that earthworms are not native to North America? I read this year's ago but found it interesting enough to remember.

@Laurie I've never heard that before. So for once we did get something brought to these states that the FDA, CDC, USDA and all the other groups didn't do any complaining about. What a miracle.

Tho it looks like a snake, it's an Australian worm.

OMG @rainbow what in the heck is this thing????

@Marjory Wildcraft - is that "Australian worm" wild, or what? - LOL
Since overcoming significant-Terror of snakes decades ago, so I can handle a Non-poisonous Grass-snake with ease, am able to look at this critter & be okay. It's kinda Curious, eh? - what do you think about it?
