i dont know much about grasses

@doloresosullivan.1 It's no secret that grasses are not my favorite. 🤣Too many summers mowing as a kid. But river canes are a good one to start on. (Yup, they're technically a grass.) You can peel and boil the young shoots, and you typically don't have to worry about identifying a certain species. But if they taste bitter after boiling, toss them out.
Also, wild oats (Avena fatua) are a fairly safe grass to start with. You're most likely to get them mixed up with cultivated oats or wood oats (both of which are edible). Here's a link to an article with identification information. https://thegrownetwork.com/oatstraw-benefits/
