I am posting this with permission from other admin and with my respect for individuals on here (I have grown to appreciate you all), but also with concern. I feel that this needs to be said in regard to the loud noise that reigns online in general right now. It reminds me of the loud buzz of a not so fun family gathering, you know, the type that gives migraines. (And I do actually have one at the moment.)
I think that there are huge problems on all sides when it comes to Covid-19. I am considering all information coming my way & as I usually do, trying to find the main message of each source & sort out what is best to consider as truth. This rates up there with thyroid & prolapse "noise"...but maybe its worse because it is everywhere.
Here are a few questions to ask when considering any source: What are the credentials? What do these folks have to gain in putting out their views? Do they stand to make more money or gain more loyal followers? What is their history? How solid is their proof? Is it legitimate? Why or why not? How thoroughly have you researched a particular person, organization, the views they hold, why, etc. Research everything about the person & source...from all angles. Then consider what your bias is personally & why do you hold to it? Is it right or wrong? Why? These are all important.
Online, you can find anything to support every view. Not everything is true. Some good people get deceived and pass along incorrect things. Some things may contain partial truth & then mix their spin into their presentations/articles. Many are being unknowingly duped and then spread things faster than the virus. This makes getting to the bottom of all of this very difficult.
I am not siding with anyone online or offline. I am just trying to take care of my family, look out for you folks, my online family (trying to encourage you smart folks to be sharp), & trying to promote what I feel is good & helpful.
I don't believe this situation is permanent, although it does appear that it will affect our lives for quite some time. I also feel that some our focus here is very wrong. We should be focusing on what good we can do for others rather than adding to more noise...and keep calm.
I feel it is time we stop the noise here, as it could get tense very quickly especially now...even on TGN. Let's focus on helping each other. I see some have begun this generous act of kindness. Let's continue to make this a safe place to unwind.
How can you help our members through this difficult time? Please post your offers in the forum.
