My very elderly rat terrier has developed a new, dry cough. His lungs are clear, his heart murmur hasn’t changed and has no fever.

grind up some mullein leaf and make a tea strain it and add to his food see if that helps

Mullein is one thing I don’t have yet. It’s still tiny plants but I have mallow, do you think this would work?

Honey might be a place to start.

In summer fire season, I have used a bit of local raw honey for my dog's cough. I just let him lick a smear off my fingers. It's something I often do at bedtime when he's keeping us both awake.

@Lexie I would also suggest visiting Doc Jones' forum on homegrownherbalist to see what he would suggest.

I read that in the alpine regions of Austria, to keep cows healthy, that aside from other traditional practices, they would spray thyme tea in their mouths & noses.

Hopefully you find something effective & your dog gets relief.

Could someone please post a link to doc Jones’ forum? I’m having difficulty finding my way there.
