is this 'slow 2 cook' in the crock pot necessary? Seems to me it would be mush since everything goes in pre cooked...

That sounds good. In the comments section, the editor does suggest an oven method for someone with an old round crock pot. I'd probably do it in the oven just because I like things with a crusty top! And I'd probably add more cheese on top.

@Mary Linda Bittle For regular lasagna I build it with uncooked noodles. It seems to me that using pre cooked noodles in this recipe would over cook them during the oven time and poss ruin the entire dish? Poss making the texture pasty?

If there's enough moisture in the recipe to cook the noodles, I'd probably try it with uncooked. But I might try a smaller batch first.

On the other hand, if everything is already cooked -noodles, potatoes, bacon - you would only need to bake it until it was warmed to your satisfaction.

I can't day I've ever personally made lasagna so I'm not a lot of help. But the frozen ones have cooked noodles, and cook up nicely.

@Mary Linda Bittle Good point trying small batch first, and noodles in the the frozen ones are always good.

Two heads better than one. Thanks for your input.

@silvertipgrizz I have made lasagne from scratch with both cooked and uncooked lasagne noodles. If the noodles are pre-cooked and the sauce is all precooked before going in the oven it doesn't take as long, as all you need to do is make sure its heated thru. Takes about 20 mins. When I use uncooked noodles, it takes about an hour, and have to make sure there is enough liquid in the sauce to cook the noodles.

@kmartin.mail I think the reason I liked the uncooked noodle more was the cooked ones were not as quick and easy to get into place...too limpy lol. I also liked that the uncooked noodle version was faster to put together until I learned how to make my own sauce that took a little more time but it was worth it.
