Hi Tom, so glad to see you online.

I'm currently in the tropics in Puerto Rico and contrary to popular belief, there is a need for timing here too. It's definitely much more relaxed than the tighter constraints of the colder temperate climates, but there is a dry season and a wet season. I'm looking forward to living through them all.

It's always a pleasure listening, learning, and being inspired by you, Tom!!! 😃 Wish we could even walk out into our yard in the winter, but we usually have a pretty consistent 12' or more of snow on the ground all winter! I'm in western Wisconsin, aka, the frozen tundra... . 😏

Hah, I hail from Eastern Wisconsin! (Milwaukee) Winters can be brutal in that state! Heard there may have been snow there last night even.

Soil blocks are good, but if you already have the containers, it's much cheaper to re-use those with potting soil - all of those other things he has can really add up. I mulched my carrots like that one winter, and they were mush when I went to harvest them - the key is to have snow when the temps drop and not lots of freezing and thawing. Plus, my hands can't stand to harvest anything outside in winter! I wonder how much that underground storage unit cost to make... He has an amazing garden and set-up, but I don't think it's for an average person with a full time job and modest salary...

Small world! 😃 Friends up in the UP got snow last night. We're supposed to get snow Saturday night/Sunday morning. We had frost last night, and tonight it's supposed to get down to 25F... . We did have snow about 2 weeks ago... . Yes, a brutal and severe state! 😏

Thanks, I enjoyed this. I always learn a lot from Tom's presentations. I'm trying soil blocks for the second year this season, and they are doing much better than last year, when the blocks were too dry and then I overwatered them. This year, I'm getting excellent germination. I didn't know about putting the bit of perlite on top of each hole -- will try that!

I'd like to thank Tom and Marjory both. While staying up later than I should to get Tom's presentation watched, I looked up to see the temperature in my little plastic greenhouse was down to 32 F. If I hadn't stayed up, I would have lost everything out there in tonight's freeze. I'm also very glad my husband found that thermometer that I could put in the greenhouse with a unit inside that lets me know how cold it is out there. Sure is a chilly night in the frozen tundra. :)
