Personally I do barehand gardening unless I am dealing with the damn blackberries - then I use a heavy duty armoured glove as they will go through heavy leather. My MIL swears by these gloves: https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/garden/clothing/gloves/65623-foxgloves

@Sheila these foxgloves sound promising! I will have to try a pair out.

I've got soooooo many pairs of gloves all over the yard and garage and I use them all. How did I get so many? I don't know! I would just see cute ones and insist I needed them. The good thing is, I don't have to go hunting for gloves when I'm in the garden. There are always gloves within reach.

Now, the thing is, do you do this too?

    a. hold gloves by fingertips and smack them on something. That usually gets out whatever insects or spiders have wandered in.

    b. Next I twist them... to make sure a stubborn insect or spider doesn't survive.

I'm just being careful! Don't want to be bitten :D

I prefer no gloves....but, understand they are necessary....I used to do as you say...purchase the cheap ones and replace them every couple of weeks.
