Tutorial: Tagging a Member Within a Post

If you want to reply to someone in particular, add an "@" then their screen name immediately after. Such as @LaurieLovesLearning

It is possible that many similar or even identical names will appear in a drop down window. You need to watch the avatar to make sure that it is the same as the person's avatar. If the member does not have a picture avatar, but a computer generated generic one, pick the first one.

On occasion, you will see that the system might pick another similar name that appeared above or below what you think you chose. If this happens, just backspace until that name clears & try again.

The method of using the "@" symbol should give them an email notification.

Thanks so much. I was wondering how to do that.

Note that you must pick from the list for the person to be notified. Just copying the information will not work.

I have also discovered that you can copy and paste an @name. Can't do it from their name next to their avatar on a post but if someone has addressed @name in a post you can copy and paste it. Hope I have explained that sufficiently. Then you can be sure of getting the right person if there is more than one name pops up on the drop down list.

If you quote a person by using the quote function, I found that the person will still be notified. I err on the side of making sure by still addressing them directly with the "@".
