Organic Food for Chickens in Oregon
I just purchased a bunch of laying hens. I want to raise them on organic, non-GMO food. I have searched the internet and found only two graineries that have organic chicken feed in Oregon. One is over 300 miles away! I want to create a relationship with a grainery because I plan to raise goats next year and I'd like to buy feed in bulk. Does anyone have any suggestions? I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon and I'm willing to travel. I find it amazing that I live in an agricultural community and cannot find an organic grainery!

It sounds like you are trying to find an organic feed mill.
I have two resources for you. The first has listings of organic farms by area. You could ask each where they source their feed. The second has links of feed mills & feed recipes.

Would you be able to bring organic grain into the mill and have them grind it for you? If not, maybe there is a need for a small grain milling operation for other organic farmers in your area and you could start a milling operation on your farm?

Are any of the local wineries in your area organic? If so, find out if they have any resources you can look into for organic grain companies.

Thank you, everyone, for all your suggestions! I really appreciate it.
