Not sure if it was a bunny or a rodent. Or something else. The left one cantalope, ate the other. Ate all three watermelons to the ground and left the zucchini, cucumber and tomatoes they were still just start 6-8 inches not sure what did it.

Frustrating to say the least. I have a series of different sized wire cages that I can place around whatever I need to, for that very problem. We have rabbits, wallabies, antechinus, bandicoots and a variety of birds that cause chaos here. We've had to net the veggie garden to stop the carnage! Anything I plant outside the netted area, has the wire cage placed around them for the 1st yr or until they can fend for themselves, young trees included.

What kind of netting do you use. That might work. Thanks for the suggestion

Netting wise we use bird net, comes either black or white, black blends into the landscape better and it's 1/2 or 1/4" square. The same netting orchardists would use, comes in big rolls. Lets the bees and insects in and everything else out. We've basically built a wire netting fence around the garden about 3' high, put 1 tall post in the middle, with posts on each corner. Run plain wire from centre post to each of the others and then another wire attached at the top, around the perimeter and then netted over the top and fastened to the wire netting fence. Make sure you include an entry/exit point! I'll try and find a photo.
