Ayurvedic Herbs and Healing

I just graduated as an Ayurvedic Practitioner. I have been studying Ayurvedic herbalism with KP Khalsa (he's great!). Ayurveda is India's traditional medical system and it is a wonderful complement to many other holistic health approaches.
There are many fantastic Ayurvedic herbs that work really well. Many of them are the spices found in our kitchen cabinets, such as turmeric, coriander, fennel, and even black pepper.
Though I have learned a lot, I feel I am just starting my journey with Ayurvedic herbalism. (I am a relative newbie when it comes to Western herbs and energetics.)
Please let me know if you have any questions!

@stephanie447 Congratulations on completing your program! KP Khalsa is a great teacher. I have attended a couple of his webinars and took part in a couple of his clinical presentations.
My focus is Western Herbalism (particularly local herbs), although, my last program did contain two Ayurvedic courses (Traditional Ayurvedic Medicine and Traditional Ayurvedic Materia Medica) and two TCM courses. But fairly introductory. So if I run across something I am unfamiliar with, I will address my questions to you.
I really like the part of Ayurveda that promotes the daily use of herbs in food.
TGN's courses in Herbal Medicine and Energetics might be a good place for you to start with Western Herbalism.

Ayurvedic is amazing. I really enjoy V. Lad books. I studied Western Herbalism at SWIHA in Tempe Az. Great program. Depending on where you are located there may be some online resources.
Happy healing.

@torey "TGN's courses in Herbal Medicine and Energetics might be a good place for you to start with Western Herbalism." Yes! I have just started taking this course! It is excellent! There is some overlap, such as hot vs. cold but so much more to learn!

Congrats!! I'm still in my AP program through Radiant Living Online School of Ayurveda. It's gonna take a while!

If anyone is interested in practicing Ayurveda Banyan Botanicals is great to work with and they offer lots of helpful information. The quality of their oils is excellent. https://www.banyanbotanicals.com/

@stephanie447 yes definitely congratulations! That was a lot of work to become an Ayurvedic Practitioner. If you need someone to practice on, let me know. I make a good guinea pig. :)

@stephanie447 Congratulations! It's wonderful to have such a powerful healing system in your repertoire of life skills. Guinea pig #2 at your service.

I'm somewhat of a kitchen table herbalist. KP Khalsa is someone that I've found to offer sensible advice. I caught on to him through some articles and videos on HerbMentor.com and was lucky enough to hear him speak at Bastyr once. I've learned a lot from him.
Welcome! I bet you get a lot of questions here.

How is the program so far?

@dalans @frogvalley I am happy to have some guinea pigs! Will send you both private messages! Thank you!

@stephanie447 I have read some about Ayurveda. I would be so grateful if you could figure out my problems and get me back on a good road. 😉

Good, but I'm pretty distracted, so I may drop out this year and try again next year. Just have to pay a small fee to extend the internship when I get to that part. No added fee to retake, thank goodness!

That's not too bad. I just completed the NAMA Ayurvedic Practitioner Exam. I passed but it was TOUGH. So when you do start to study again, go look up NAMA's requirements for the exam and try to memorize all the stuff they want you to learn while going through your program.
