Cinnamon Vine or Air Potato
I’m getting ready to relocate to South Carolina, and I came across an article on common weeds in the area. Have you ever seen cinnamon vine? Online it says it has a wonderful cinnamon scent when it blooms and that the tubers are edible. I can tell from the articles no one really wants to eat it, lol. BUT I also read that a synonym for this plant is nagaimo, a Japanese yam I eat all the time.
If it’s the same thing, and I’ll post a few lectures because maybe someone can help me figure out if I’m right, it’s peeled and grated. It’s SUPER slimy like okra, but without the okra flavor plants in that family have. I eat it over hot rice with soy sauce and lemon.
If it’s slimy, I bet it’s good for upset tummies and there are probably all kinds of medicinal properties. Anyway, if you’ve seen it growing in your area (I’m still in California) have you tried it or heard of it?
