FOR FUN VIDEO THREAD

Now, it was suggested that we need a thread for funny videos. It is good to keep things light even in stressful times.

Feel free to post these below. This is for those particular videos that stand out over & above the rest. Please use discretion.

Two things that I am requesting:

1. I think that we should keep these videos relevant to raising our own food, so including anything garden & agricultural type animal, I think would be appropriate.

2. Please keep all content family friendly (no inappropriate content, language, violence, etc). You know, the usual.

3. Please do not post excessively as to overburden the forum system or flood the forum with videos. If any one person starts to post videos here in excess, they will be asked to stop.

First up: Cow plays fetch. Enjoy!

I love seeing all creatures enjoying life. Hopefully that cow is not intended for slaughter.

    That's really neat!

Another oddity, goats climb trees. Ours are insane at time on trees. And no, the fire dept never had to get them down.

Totally off topic... but I saw a cow parsnip as tall as a house today! Wish I had some seeds form that!

That is a really fine vid, am enjoying it - had no idea a cow might have such fun, makes me happy to c that! Listening to Marjory at Superfood summit, we r both having fun, and the audience-multitasking!

That's awesome! Would've never imagined a cow playing. They always seem so docile. :)

I didn't even know cows ran until my husband told me a couple weeks ago😊.

Then we drove by a field of cows and there was a donkey playing with all the calves- just running and running! Man, life is good😇

@LaurieLovesLearning aww so cute!! Thanks for the good smile and laugh this morning! We should start a funny animal video thread because you can literally spend hours if you had it looking and laughing at how funny they are!!

@LaurieLovesLearning Thanks! Needed a smile this morning.

@judsoncarroll4 What would you do with the cow parsnip seeds? I have never seen a plant that tall before. Could it have been the cousin, Giant Hogweed? Not sure if you have that in your area.

When young and peeled, it is a wild edible said to taste like celery.... I've never tried it. Also, used in poultices for swelling. But, I was thinking chop and drop for mulch. Yes, it could have been hogweed - not sure.

@lmrebert Done! Thanks for the suggestion.

Please reread the first post in this thread. I reworked it. 😁

@nicksamanda11 Yeah, they run, and they can & will run you over, unlike a horse that will turn inside out to avoid doing so.

You must have never heard the story of the tiny piglet, my husband & the Jersey cow with the big udder. The piglet took off as fast as it could go across our little pasture. My husband took off after it as fast as he could go. The cow wanted to see & join in the excitement, and so took off too (as fast as she could go), big udder flip flopping back and forth, side to side. All were equally spaced, one after the other. My husband stopped, turned & yelled when he heard her coming. The piglet stopped & the cow stopped immediately as he did. Then the piglet took off running, he took off and the cow took off...pretty much at the same time. The next time I saw them, they were going the opposite direction. I laughed so hard. He said it wasn't funny...grrr...but he wasn't the one watching. 🤣 I wish I had had a video!

@torey I found more info on cow parsnip on what is becoming my go to site for herb info. It is really very useful and I will plant on growing some!

    Herb: Cow Parsnip

    Latin name: Heracleum sphondylium

    Family: Umbelliferae

Medicinal use of Cow Parsnip: The roots and the leaves are aphrodisiac, digestive, mildly expectorant and sedative. The plant is little used in modern herbalism but has been employed in the treatment of laryngitis and bronchitis. A tincture made from the aerial parts of the plant has also been used to relieve general debility, though it is uncertain how it works. The plant is harvested as it comes into flower and can be dried for later use.
