@Marjory Wildcraft Lots of interesting and necessary info here. Thank you for posting.

David the Good is great! We've used several of his ideas and they worked beautifully. Not brave enough to ferment fish yet.
-
Super-going to watch it for sure! :)
-
Long but good. I think that I watched this before or one similar to it but it made more sense today so I guess that I am learning, Have had some of the same thoughts about composting and have used several of the methods a bit, Going to keep composting...

Interesting, thanks for posting

Didn't I read somewhere that David was collaborating with Steve Solomon on a future book?
-
@VermontCathy yes, Dave and Steve are good friends. I bet there is a book on the horizon. I think Dve has also started his own publishing company too.
-
Hillarious compost movie- yet informative as well.

@Marjory Wildcraft this was a fun viewing! Thank you dearly for sharing!

David's YouTube channel is fun and informative. He is working on rented property with incredibly poor soil, which has given him a chance to experiment on video and explain to all of us what he is doing to improve it, and how well it is working.
It's really impressive to see all this great gardening information in an entertaining format.

Obvious that you don't live in New England. We grow rocks here. No way to dig a hole that easily, and sometimes you find a boulder.
-
@JoyMetcalf It is that way in some regions in Canada as well. In the northern Lake of the Woods areas (and further north into the bush), it is pretty much all rocks. One of my relatives in Kenora, Ontario complained that a garden was impossible. Other places, like to the west of that area, and for quite a ways into southeastern Manitoba, it is very poor low swampland...also not conducive to gardening.
Sometimes what person needs to do is raised beds, greenhouses, or grow some things indoors. You work however you need to to reach your goal.
When you get a moment, please leave a short introduction here:

Welcome to TGN's forum @JoyMetcalf.
You can just never tell about rocks. Our property is very rocky. Outcroppings of bedrock in some places. Yet our daughter who is 3 properties over from us has nothing but clay and gravel. We were shocked (and envious) when they started digging and levelling their property.
