Adventures in High Performance Gardening 28 - Covering the Garden
Hello everyone! We're back with another episode on preparing for the first frost! Lynn bet me that it would frost in 3 weeks, but I bet her 5 weeks. We'll see who wins in the next few episodes ;)
If we can cover the warm weather plants, we can harvest more food. It'll freeze then get warm again so we got to make use of the time left in the garden this season. You can use sheets, blankets, row covers, sleeping bags, whatever you need. Just make sure the insulation stays dry by covering it with a plastic tarp and securing it with rocks! Check your forecast every night and cover your warm weather plants if the temperatures are predicted to drop below 36 degrees. Watch us get ready for the cold:
