Just A Little Lighthearted Fun

So many times I am doing something or hear a phrase and a song will pop into my head. Generally the song is a popular older song from the radio with a quirky twist. :)
My husband and I were out in the garden the other evening and I started singing this little ditty:
Hello Garden, my old friend, I've come to weed in you again.... Which led my husband and I to think of other songs and change the words to be about gardening. Here are a few we came up with:
Yesterday, all my weeding seemed so far away, now it looks as though it's here to stay, oh I believe in yesterday, suddenly, I've got half the crop there used to be...
In the land where I was born, lived a man who planted peas, a sky of blue, a pea of green in his yellow suburban jeans....
Sittin in the burdock and the bay... watchin' the clouds roll away, tasting thyme...
Yes, this is what goes through my mind sometimes out in the garden. It always puts a smile on my face and makes the time fly. Hope this put a smile on your face, too!
What song lyrics can you come up with?

These are great! I can't come up with anything off the top of my head, but from years ago, when that Nirvana hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit" came out, my boyfriend at the time would sing the chorus using an Elmer Fudd accent: "Kill the Wabbit....Kill the Wabbit..."

My face is smiling and a giggle is bubbling : ) My husband, brother & I also modify lyrics to songs to fit every situation! Here is a gardening related Purple Rain parody about my only seed buying criterion this year:
Purple Greens, Purple Greens... purple greens, purple greens... I only wanna eat you plantys if you're purple greens.
I hope to return soon with more... Thanks for the thread, Naomi!

These are great songs! I always have a song in my head, and I make up new words to the tune also. Being a preschool teacher, many of my songs originate from childhood tunes.

Last night's activities... to the tune of God Bless America:
Cold dress arugula
Leaf that I love
With vin-EH-gar
And o-il
Herbs and spices, hon-EY and sea salt!

My husband asked me not to sing to my kids when they were young as I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. He now says he was just joking, but I really, really, really can't sing.
Your little dittys are sooo cute and put a big ole smile on my face that I just can't help from cutting loose - a little. Can't wait to see more tunes.
