Hand Sanitizer Dangers
I am sharing a near disaster, to help others not face the same. A friend gave me a liquid hand sanitizer. I put it aside, as I believe hand washing is better than any sort of chemical. Long story short, a bit of the hand sanitizer ended up in my beagle's tummy. He was abandoned here last hunt season. Unbeknownst to me a most likely reason for his abandonment was he suffered significant injuries after being struck by a vehicle, leaving his with vertebrae issues, shoulder and hip issues. The hand sanitizer being added to the mix nearly sent him over the rainbow, but also left neurological damage, making it difficult for him to compensate for his previous injuries.
Be very aware where this and similar products are, if you allow them in your home!

I'm with you about hand sanitizer. I'm not a fan and handwashing is far more effective. I do keep some for emergencies but I keep them in cabinets away from the animals.

Thank you, @karenjanicki .
I usually only have hand sanitizer in the car, since one can't always wash, while on the road. This was not the least like a gel, so I put it up and away. Hindsight, I should have gotten it out of the home. One of the youngens, somehow, spilled some, and Bagel lapped it up at warp speed. The results were FAST and dramatic! He is better now, but will never be what he was, heartbreaking to say.

Thank God he's ok but I'm sorry there were lasting effects :,(! Poor buddy. Yeah it's amazing what pets will get into. You turn your back for a second. They go after the weirdest things too. One of our cats loves to eat our rabbits hay....
