One of the members told me that there are a few on here that use homeopathy and I was wondering how many of you and how seasoned you are. I have been using homeopathy for about 3 years and have had so many amazing experiences. I use it with all of my family and our animals. I would love to start making my own remedies from herbs at some point and learn to use the herbs themselves. I believe that there is a place for all of the different types of home medicines in my medicine cabinet. I would love to hear some of your favorite home remedies and I would love to share my favorites.

@frogvalley I saw a comment you made in another thread and thought it might be best to continue the conversation here. You mentioned that Vithoulkas was taking Arnica daily. Do you have a link to the article? I would very much like to read his thoughts on that.

I use natural remedies to aid in wound healing, as daily vitamins, and as immune boosters during the cold winter months.

My homemade first-aid salve reduces the swelling and itch of bug bites, heals scratches faster than usual, and relieves the itch from cucumber and squash plants.

Fiery Cider tamed my hubby's cough and sniffles in three days.

My super dried green mix, mixed with raw honey, is my daily vitamin that maintains my health and boosts my immune system.

Goldenrod tea relieved my seasonal allergy symptoms without OTC pills.

@frogvalley Wow! That's crazy about the Red Raspberry leaf tea. 20 years ago when my husband I were going to birthing classes they told us about Red Raspberry leaf tea for opening the cervix and possibly having an faster birth. I drank it every night like she said and I had my oldest daughter naturally (no meds) in 1 hour and 59 minutes. A couple years later I drank the tea again and had my second daughter in 1 hour and 30 minutes. I bought it for every shower I went to after that for many years. I don't think very many believed me but oh well.

@Brindy That was my first experience with anything homeopathic or natural and I didn't try any homeopathy until a couple years ago.

My oldest daughter had her wisdom teeth out and was not doing well so I looked up homeopathy for surgery (I'd heard about it form a couple interviews and videos I'd watched) and bought something I can't remember at Sprout's. She was feeling better the next day and recovered well with no infections like many of her friends.

Then, my husband had a HUGE sty that had swelled his eyelid up to where he could hardly see out of that eye. He went to his doctor and was told to put a warm compress on it until it goes away. It was during one of the Grown Network Summits and Elena Upton was presenting. I commented on her post and she told me to get Pulsatilla for him. It worked so well!! I bought her book and use a lot of homeopathy now.

I just sent my youngest daughter to college in another state with arnica and belladonna as well as with ColdCalm and Sinus Calm.

@Wendy can I ask what is in your super dried green mix? All of those remedies sound awesome.

@kbmbi. I like that you sent remedies with her to college. I have one of those dollar first aid kits from Walmart and I keep Aconite, Apis, Arnica, Arsenicum Album, hypericum, hepar sulf, Ledum, and Nux Vomica in the little tiny bottles for emergencies. They have come in handy so many times.

I am totally going to look up Elena Upton.

@frogvalley I will spend some time looking for the article. I enjoy reading Vithoulkas' take on homeopathic treatment.

That is a dilemma. I have heard of that kind of personality change following a stroke. I am not sure if treating the injury will reverse the personality change or not. I will have to ask a teacher about that one.

@torey It will reverse the personality change injuries, but I don't know about stroke. This scenario was presented by Dr. Andre Saine decades ago to a room full of doctors (and me) at a homeopathy conference near Washington DC. There was a person who presented with head trauma and was so nice, but his prior personality was a miserable old coot. Treat or not to treat?

I love that Vithoulkas is willing to admit that homeopathy is still unfolding.

@frogvalley Are you familiar with Lou Klein's work or courses or Jan Scholten and his work with minerals and the periodic table or his latest work with plants? I had the opportunity to study as part of Lou's Homeopathic Master Clinician course and have been to 3 of Jan's classes when he was in Canada. Both are brilliant!

@torey I watched one of Jan's classes, but have never heard of Lou. I've been using homeopathy more than half my life, but I feel like such a beginner because of all the things coming out. Thank you for passing on the information.

@frogvalley This is a link to Lou's website. He's not doing the Homeopathic Master Clinician course at the moment but the Foundations course is still open. https://homeopathycourses.com/

I just watched a presentation on homeopathy on the Natural Medicine at Home Summit by Carol Lourie, ND. She was in my HMC class with Lou and I have touched base with her at Han's classes as well. I believe she in in the Los Angeles area and has a very good practice. I've seen her on another summit as well, talking about remedies to use in a disaster situation.

@torey You are such a wealth of information. Have you any experience with the Banerji Protocols? My grandson had brain cancer last year, but had to have emergency surgery so we didn't have a chance to use it. I'm now looking at the one for BPH. I'm not against combination remedies or practice as a classical homeopath, but I've seen benefits from both. Banerji Protocols have been given the stamp of approval by some classical homeopaths so I'm looking. If you have any experience, with them or BPH, please share.

@frogvalley, I have used lots of Banerji protocols with great success. Joette Calabrese studied with the Banerjis and uses a lot of their methods. Joette had a ton of free information on her blogs too.

@torey, I watched that also. I am enjoying the natural health summit! @Marjory Wildcraft , I really enjoyed the interview with you that was part of the summit.

@frogvalley I was classically trained so know less about combinations or multiple remedy protocols. I have heard of the Banerji protocols as there was a naturopath in my class that was using these along with other homeoprophylaxis treatments. But it was only briefly discussed. So really not familiar. Not opposed to combinations. I have used a few, from time to time, along with adjunct treatments in other modalities.

I have only once treated for BPH. It was a very advanced case in a very elderly patient. He passed away within a year of me starting to treat him. He had so many issues, I'm not sure if I had any effect on anything. Thuja was a choice because of skin conditions as well but I don't think it was the right remedy. I should have tried Equisetum but didn't have any in my remedy cabinet at the time. He may have been more of a mineral remedy constitutionally, not a plant. I have notes from a class where it was suggested to look at the Poales order for remedies for BPH.

@Brindy Joette Calabrese has some very good postings! My classical homeopath retired after all these years, but still works with us. I'm not sure how long that will last and the remedies given so far haven't worked.

The herb Epilobium Parviflobium suggested by @jolanta.wittib seems to be having an effect, albeit very slowly.

The Banerji protocol for BPH requires being off all remedies (and even antidoting them) so that gives me pause because the person using them has some other issues.

@torey Medorrhinum 200C is part of the Banerji protocol and I've never used that remedy or that high of a dosing for so long. I'm guessing I may have to give Joette a call.

Thank you everyone for your help. I don't feel so alone and helpless anymore.

@frogvalley is the Med recommended daily? I would be cautious using that potency for a daily protocol. But I am not familiar enough to speak on the subject. It may be part of a very effective protocol. It is in my repertory for BPH but there are 122 other remedies listed along with it. Do you have a list of the remedies used, their potencies and for how long? I would be very interested in seeing what is being used. You could PM it to me.

I looked through the posts, but couldn't find exactly what BPH is. Is it Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia?

  • Torey

@Brindy Yes. BPH is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. I think we need a glossary of Medical Abbreviations in the proposed herbal dictionary.

No need to fear if you have a remedy maker. This device comes with over 250 pages of codes that allow you to make your own remedy in 10 seconds and it works. I'll write a bit more about it in a separate comment. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radionic-Remedy-Maker-with-Copier-Rates-Directory-Free-Worldwide-Delivery/152596998004?hash=item23877d6774:g:TBMAAOSwKOJYKjEy

I've been using homeopathy for quite a few years. I'm a big fan of making my own remedies. For a UTI, make a 12X remedy with your urine and it will be gone within hours in most cases. This one is pretty easy to do on your own but for higher potencies it's good to have a remedy maker. It pays for itself quickly, especially if you have a farm and want to make your own insect/pest deterrent remedies. They are sold on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radionic-Remedy-Maker-with-Copier-Rates-Directory-Free-Worldwide-Delivery/152596998004?hash=item23877d6774:g:TBMAAOSwKOJYKjEy

One of the gals in my homeopathy forum was telling us recently about an invasion of beetles. She took a few of them and boiled them, made a remedy from them and then either watered or sprayed the affected plants. The next day ALL the beetles were gone! She said it sends them a message that "beetles died here and stay away, it's not a safe spot to feed!" There are several books about gardening/farming and homeopathy available to buy. It is good for transplant shock, plant injury, insects, strengthening plants, etc. I'm looking forward to using homeopathy more in the garden!

Tip for anyone who suffers from bronchitis or pneumonia in the fall months: This is highly likely to be mold allergy and a homeopathic mold remedy will likely eliminate it.

@Sharie Do you have a link to the company that makes these devices? I tried to find out more information but when I searched for the company, the only links I could find were links to Etsy or Ebay. They are a new concept for me and I would like to figure out how they work. I'm not understanding the principles from the description in the ad. I am also wondering how they figure out the codes for a previously un-potenized substance. I have always been taught that to make higher potencies you need a large number of vials to go through all the lower potencies to get to, say a 200. So I need a bit more of an explanation how this works.

Anyone wanting to make their own remedies should be very familiar with homeopathy before trying out new remedies from un-proven substances.

For those who are unfamiliar with how you are treating with your own urine, it is a sub-modality of homeopathy called Autopathy. There is an excellent book on the subject, "Autopathy - A Homeopathic Journey to Harmony" by Jiri Cehovsky. Its available at most online book sellers.

If you are treating bronchitis or pneumonia, make sure there is some sort of indication of a mold infestation before treating with a mold remedy. Not everyone lives in areas where mold is a common infectious agent.

@torey From my limited understanding of homeopathy, it seems from the like cures like concept of the system, if indicated in the materia medica, the mold remedy will help whether it is exposure to the mold or not, if the keynote symptoms match the symptoms of the patient. Just as, for instance, Rhus Tox helps with minor arthritis pain, a symptom for some from exposure to poison ivy. Or Allium Cepa helps with runny nose, cold or hay fever just as exposure to onions, allium, causes similar symptoms.

One of my next investments is in the materia medica to look up suggested remedies to confirm the suggestion and maybe a study group. That is my suggestion, to verify the use of mold remedy with a reputable materia medica for bronchitis or pheumonia. A mold infestation does not necessarily have to be the cause of the bronchitis or pneumonia but, may be found as a keynote to the mold remedy and treat the illness by helping the immune system to recognize what it is fighting and fight it more successfully.

This is only my suggestion and that comes from someone with a few years experience using OTC remedies, listening to podcasts from noted homeopaths, such as Joette Calabrese and having moderate success doing searches on homeopathic websites, NOT internet searches with Google or Bing. Hence, the next investment is in a materia medica.

    Make sense?

@Jack_Went_Splat Yes, it is a case of like cures like and a repetorization might bring up mold remedies as a choice for certain cases of lung infections. However, when we are looking at a case, we also take into account, a full case history to see if there is anything underlying that may be the initiating factor in the symptoms. Generally, if you are going to treat with a remedy such as one of the molds, there should be some indication of previous contact with a mold species. When I do a search for remedies for bronchitis there are 401 that come up but only see one of them as a mold remedy. Similarly under pneumonia there are 474 remedies listed and again only one is a mold.

If you are going to purchase physical repertories or materia medicas, I would suggest starting with Boericke's Picket Manual of Homeopath Materia Medica. John Clarke's Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica is another good one.

I use a reperorization and materia medica program that can be purchased through a licence fee. It is downloaded and you don't have to be online to use it. Complete Dynamics available at: https://www.completedynamics.com/ It comes with full volumes of Boericke and Clarke along with Herring, Allen, Boger, Kent, Lippe, Nash and others. So in the long-run might be cheaper than the books. All homeopathic books seem to be very expensive.

I think we are having some great discussions in this thread.
