The wonderful health properties of aloe vera!
I started doing some research on Aloe vera when I discovered that it was recommended for beautiful skin and hair. I also discovered it has some other amazing healing properties. "The health benefits of aloe vera include strengthening the immune system, reducing arthritis pain, and healing wounds. It also helps lower blood sugar, helps fight oxidative stress, and heal the side effects of radiotherapy treatments. Aloe vera has long been used for skin conditions like sunburns, acne, and dermatitis, due to its rich antioxidant properties."
How cool is that! I'm going to add Aloe vera juice into my diet on a regular basis. Does anyone else use it? Do you have any specific ways you use Aloe in your life?

Aloe is also a bitter herb that is a good upper GI stimulant, similar to Gentian.
What does it do for the GI tract specifically? I have issues with my stomach, diagnosed with IBS. Those issues run in my family. Will Aloe help with that as well?
It is a stomach tonic - increases gastric juices, helps with digestion. Very small amounts are used of the dried plant. Aloe juice can be purgative. Here is more info: http://www.naturalmedicinalherbs.net/herbs/a/aloe-vera=aloe-vera.php
Cool! I'll have to keep up my research. Thank you for sharing that :).
We just keep an aloe plant or two as houseplants and pinch off a bit as needed for burns and scrapes. I've never tried ingesting aloe vera. Maybe I should look into that.
I have cats so I cant keep the live plants sadly but we have some of the plain gel for burns and stuff. Yeah it tastes a bit weird but I drank a bottle of juice today and feel pretty good now.
@karenjanicki There is a great protocol with aloe and Colloidal silver(Sovereign Silver) for GI issues.
Here is a free chapter from the book - Unlock The Power to Heal by Robert Scott Bell. He is a classically trained homeopath, and has his own radio show. Not a really well known show but needs to be known, really sound information. Check him out at Robertscottbell.com
Here is the free chapter he offers on his website - http://www.robertscottbell.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/RSB-GI-Silver-Aloe-protocol.pdf It's about a 5-10 minute read and towards the end of the chapter you'll see the silver aloe protocol he recommends for GI issues. Fantastic info on colloidal silver as well. This one is a keeper and you should share it with friends and family.
I have used the aloe that he talks about in his chapter, very good and clean. I've often bought large, fresh leaves and cut out the gel to use in smoothies, etc..., as you said, so good for your skin and so much more. Make sure to cut away all the green skin just leaving the jello-like flesh. For anyone trying fresh aloe for the first time, don't take too much, build up to larger amounts if needed. If too much, your body will definitely let you know :)
Thank you very much for sharing this with me.
