Bountiful Harvest
I just finished getting 40+ pounds of Heirloom pumpkins roasted and pureed. Now to package it and freeze it for later use in pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, pumpkin pie, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin bread..... Yummmmm!

Oohhh! So exciting! What heirloom pumpkins are they, and did you grow them? I grew heirloom Jarrahdales this year. They are so beautiful! I love all your recipe ideas. Do you enjoy pumpkin in savory recipes as well? I love pumpkin soups, pumpkin chili, pumpkin curry, and dehydrated pumpkin with sea salt! I've been trying to consume pumpkin seeds more regularly as well... so nutritious! Enjoy your yummy goodies! =)

Awesome! Well done. 👍🏻
I have two sugar pie pumpkins from my 6 plants that I am hoping will orange up a bit inside the house. It was a disappointing year for squash.

@MelissaLynne If your pumpkins were not too immature they will probably color nicely. I have several that were mostly green when picked weeks ago that are changing well. A couple of my miniature ones were "stolen" off the island by our puppy who thought they were new toys and suffered punctures from her teeth. Those damaged pumpkins appear to have toughened over and are not rotting which is quite surprising.

@happy-trails Unfortunately these didn't come from my garden. Min didn't make it. So these I bought at a mom & pop store that get pretty much everything from local farms in the area. I used a couple of Cinderella, a Jarrahdale, and I'm not quite sure on the forth because it looked also like a Jarrahdale but it was lighter in color, almost white. I do enjoy pumpkin recipes that are savoy too. I made a pumpkin curry not to long ago and I found an amazing pumpkin alfredo recipe too. My daughter helped me save most of the seeds this year for eating. Normally I give them to the chickens but she really wanted me to make some toasted.

@MelissaLynne I hear ya on the whole disappointing squash year. I barely got anything either. Although I was fortunate that my Mom's squash did well, so she gladly shared some with me. I'm hoping to do better next year in the garden. This year was really rough for most of what I planted, which of course was more than a little disappointing.😣

@JennyT wow, you have been busy. I have a wonderful recipe for Pumpkin and Prune Cake, it’s a beauty.

@jodienancarrow Thank you for sharing the recipe. I'll have to give that a try.

I am not familiar with castor sugar, can you sub in regular white sugar?
-
@MelissaLynne sure, same as white sugar only finer grained. In that recipe, I’ve used honey before, about 3/4 cup.

The puree looks amazing!
