APOTHECARY CABINET

I was recently given a cute little APOTHECARY CABINET. To not very big and has lots of little drawers.

Are these just decorative or is there a real use for them? If I’m missing something please send out your creative ideas for use.

I love apothecary cabinets. I'm a crafter, so I use the couple I have to put my bits and bobs into. It really does depend on the size of your cabinet (and the size of the drawers) and what you're into.

I have been searching for an affordable antique apothecary cabinet for as long as I can remember.

My herb collection/harvest is too big for a traditional cabinet so I would use mine (if I had one) to hold my homemade incense and resin collection (frankincense, vocal and the like) as the drawers are designed to keep herbs dry and out of humidity. If it were large enough I would also add my crystal collection.

For myself, I'm always looking for cabinets with little shelves for small tincture bottles with droppers in them, and for cabinets with taller but still narrow shelves to hold larger jars of herbs, tinctures & herbal infused oils. But I can see where the pharmacists of old might have used these cabinets to give them quick access to smaller amounts of the herbs that they would then mix together in formulas.

They are very cute, and if I had one I would probably use it to hold things like craft supplies, nail & screws - really anything small enough to fit!

@soeasytocraft It is. I think that I would most likely use it for those little things that make a junk drawer messy like elastics, screws & like things, paperclips, etc. They could be properly labelled and therefore should stay organized & easy to use.

I might even use it for homeschool/office like things...erasers, paperclips, push pins, etc.

@LaurieLovesLearning thanks for your ideas. I discovered each drawer will hold 8 bottles of essential oils. If I was so fortunate I could store up to 96 bottles! 😁

Such a beautiful cabinet! I think I would use it for organizing medicinal tea, tinctures and oils, salves , etc.
