Hello Everybody! Slippy Here!
Hey Y'all!
I've been a reader/learner here for a while and decided to join! My wife and I live on a 30 acre "Homestead In Progress" in the Southeastern US with our Australian Cattle Dog, "The Beaz", 6 laying chickens and our Yorkshire Terrier whose name I cannot say, so I'll refer to him as Mrs Slippy's Devil Dog! ☺️
We are Raised Bed Gardeners and while Mrs Slippy believes us to be "organic", I'll cheat when necessary and use responsible supplements! (Our Composting Skills don't always result in preferred results!)
Anyway, look forward to learning, laughing and maybe even teaching a bit!
Your friend,
Slippy! ❤️

Welcome @Slippy! Sounds like you have a nice set-up there on 30 acres. The term "Homestead In Progress" is accurate for all of our progressive learning and doing. The work is never quite done is it? :)

Welcome Slippy Family!!
Know you are not alone in your endeavors! This is a great place to share and learn!

Welcome to TGN's forum @Slippy. Have you checked out TGN's Academy courses, Nutrient Dense Soil or Bio-intensive Gardening or the Instant Master Gardener? You might find some assistance there on improving your compost.

Welcome!

Welcome @Slippy and family. 30 acres sounds wonderful. As for the Bush hawgin, barn cleaning you mentioned in another post, I'd love it right now.

@Slippy Welcome to our forum! If you haven't already, slip on over & review our rules. I see you've already got the intro down. 😉
We have a diverse group here. It sounds like you will fit right in.

Awesome! Thank y'all for the wonderful welcome!
Funny story, both my wife and I had grandparents that lived on and grew up on Farms but our parents became suburbanites sometime after WW2. So we both grew up somewhat in Suburbia and married and spent 20+years of marriage as subdivision dwellers.
But we knew something better was out there so we bought a tract of land and decided to start our homestead. Its been a little more than 10 years or so and we never looked back!
The funny part is that many of our friends and family thought we were nuts to leave a "nice home" in the 'burbs and start a homestead. But now, those same people envy what we have been building and want to learn more about our journey! Simplifying our lives is the easy way to describe our Homestead in Progress but there is little about building a Homestead that is simple and easy. A more accurate description is Full-Filling Our Lives!

@Slippy Welcome. Good for you and your wife-----funny how others can change their mind about your decisions!
-
@Slippy Welcome, I look forward to reading your future posts and am positive they will be entertaining and educational!
-
@Slippy great to "meet" you. I can't wait to hear all the wisdom that you have to share!
-
Thanks @Michelle D but I don't know about this wisdom thing that you speak of!
Mrs Slippy once remarked that Men are all Idiots and She married the King! I think I smiled when she said that but later I realized it might not have been a compliment! HA!
Anyhoo, I'd prefer to liken myself as a Jack 0f Many Trades, Master Of None!😋
