I like Ike's recipe better. And leftover egg whites for making meringues!
If I were to make George's recipe, I think I would like to fold in the egg whites just before serving. Make it a bit fluffier.
But both look pretty tasty.
I found a recipe for "After Eight Eggnog" in a magazine that our government liquor stores put out. It uses store bought eggnog but I think you could make any nog recipe (with out booze, cause you are adding more) and add 1 oz. creme de cacao and 1 oz. green creme de menthe with 6-8 oz. nog. Pretty green colour.

Wow, I love egg nog, but these sound a bit potent for me. LOL
Might have to give them a try either omitting the booze or cutting it way, way back.
-
Good idea on the egg whites!
-
Oh man. I love egg nog so much but now that's I'm on keto I'm not sure how that will work.
-
Ohhhh I found a keto eggnog recipe! Victory!

My husband made this one last night--a bit lighter than many. We doubled it because we have so many eggs right now. e also left out the booze (just for last night, it is delicious with it as well):
2 eggs, separated
1/4 cup sugar, divided
4 ounces rum, bourbon or brandy
10 ounces whole milk
4 ounces heavy cream
: grated nutmeg and a touch of cardamom
Instructions:
In a large bowl, beat together egg yolks and sugar until fluffy.
Stir in milk, heavy cream and spirit of choice.
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
Fold egg whites into yolk mixture.
Serve in a rocks glass, punch or tea cup.
Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

Oh my goodness, I've been thinking about needing some eggnog. Have never made it from scratch before, but I've wanted to, and this may be the year.... Thanks for sharing!
-
I have never made eggnog, but my family loves it. I am concerned that if I do make it that we will drink it all year long!
-
Eggnog, hot tea with a shot of whiskey or brandy, holiday decorations, fires, cozy socks and blankets, fluffy white snow...these are a few of my favorite things!!!
What's not to love about the late fall and early winter!!
-
My husband takes store bought eggnog and adds amaretto to it. It's surprisingly good.
-
We used to make eggnog with raw eggs. These days with unhealthy chickens and resistant bacteria eggs need to be cooked.
-
Remember what Joel Salatin said, "Salmonella has ever been found in an egg from a non-CAFO chicken." I don't worry about home grown eggs.
-
I love that George Washington's recipe ends in "Taste Frequently". 😂
-
That is a must!
-
@judsoncarroll4 Home grown eggs, if chickens are free range or having access to pasture, eating organic or natural feed, and with no antibiotic and chemical laced poultry feed, would not worry me either. Sadly, farming practices have eroded over the years so that even home grown animals may be using techniques from factory farming which mean that the eggs, milk, and meat are low quality food for humans. I also grew drinking raw milk which was kept cool but not refrigerated and promptly consumed. Skim the cream off crudely first. LOL Homogenized and pasteurized milk does not keep like raw milk does.
Also, Joel Salatin. (Thanks for the name drop): https://www.thelunaticfarmer.com/

I got a quart of Hiland Dairy Old Fashioned Egg Nog (no high fructose corn syrup) and added a bit of Maker's Mark to a glass, stirred it in well, and dusted some extra cinnamon and nutmeg on top. It is pretty darned good!

Always!

@flowerpower We use our eggs from our chickens and don't worry too much. In fact, having lots of extra eggs is a good motivator. So is the whiskey.
-
ooh my! My mouth is watering for eggnog!! Haven't had it since I've been dairy free. Anyone use these recipes with coconut milk?
-
hmmmm.....I'm thinking Egg Nog French Toast for breakfast.
