Great suggestion!

Awesome idea. I usually freeze them with meat bones until I have enough bones to make broth, then cook them all together.
-
I either blanch them and use them in smoothies or if I have enough I put them in the compost.
-
At times I put them into my bone broth (from our chicken bones and other bones I save) or feed them to the chickens.
I also save all veggies scraps in a ziplock and when I get enough I make stock.
But thanks for the new ideas!

Thanks. Will have to remember this for next year! I bet this might work for beet stems as well. I dehydrate the leaves of kale, beets and chard for a powder to use in our morning smoothies. Amazing how many leaves it takes to make a tablespoon full! It'll be fun to try this out with other stems.

My "scraps" like kale stems to in my bone broth. However, thanks for these ideas too.
-
maybe cook them blend them and make kale chips
-
@soeasytocraft you can cook bet stems the same way as chard.
-
I chop the stems up and feed them to my chickens or toss in the compost bin. I like the leaf of Kale, not particularly the stem.
