Computers are wonderful when they work.
Save it all up and hit us with it when you can.

@judsoncarroll4 That's never fun.
I am expecting a couple orders from the US. I have been watching one package and the tracking says "package acceptance pending" at the place it was posted from, the first place...and that has been since the 26th. I don't expect it until January or way later at this rate.
My order from TGN is travelling much faster and going places!
Hopefully your computer isn't delayed too long and arrives in great shape.

@judsoncarroll4 I am so sorry that happened! Is this a chance to get a model or features that you wanted but did not have with the last? Or perhaps the timing being at the end of the year helped with getting a better price? Were you "old school" and kept a lot saved locally or not?
Here is to having a quick delivery and trouble free setup!

@LaurieLovesLearning Really? Is there any way to contact the shipper? That is quite odd that it has not even made it to delivery service.
-
@Silkiemamuska I know. Very odd considering that other things seem to be travelling...and it is so close to Vancouver, Canada too, not far from the border, which makes it frustrating.
-
@LaurieLovesLearning Seems like it "fell through the cracks". Keep us posted!

I contacted the seller. I don't know how I would contact the shipper from here.

The laptop was around 6 years old and was getting a little slow and buggy, so at least I had some warning and backed most stuff up to the cloud. Yesterday, it wouldn't boot. I spent most of the day looking up tutorials on the 10 yr old, slow and frequently freezing tablet.... Tried all the bios settings, but no luck. Got a good deal on the new one though, it USPS does it's job.

I just found this dynamic and charismatic Tech. : https://christitius.com I enjoy watching his videos on Youtube too. Warning: he is not a Windows fan, nor a Google fan, but instead a Linux fan, a privacy, and performance fan. (Yes, there is life after Windows and Google. :) )
HowToGeek is a helpful site.
The quickest way to a running computer is to get local help as needed: to get online; to do software based troubleshooting procedures; and to do hardware repairs like replace the hard-drive. If you are able to do the repairs, that is as local as it gets.
If you think the computer is broken (rather than the software or setup, say windows) does it get power? i have had to replace the laptop power cords sometimes. The power cord plugs into power and converts it to the right voltage and also has one of many round tips on the end. There are cable kits with sets of interchangeable tips so that you most always have a spare power cord.
