upping my breakfast game
I'm trying new breakfast recipes lately. I really liked the quinoa breakfast that @RustBeltCowgirl posted last month.
Today I made this https://downshiftology.com/recipes/shakshuka/
It was different and very good!

I don't know about anyone else, but coffee has been my breakfast since I was about 15. The idea of eating just after getting up makes my stomach turn. I do love brunch, especially at a good mom and pop restaurant.
I know I should get up, drink a large glass of water, and then eat a heart healthy breakfast, but it hasn't happened yet.

@Gail H looks really tasty. We had blueberry porridge today. Oats boiled with milked added blueberries and some honey.
I vary this with different fruits or by adding chocolate.
Otherwise it's bread with different topics both sweet or savory.

That looks really good. Can't wait to try it.

My favorite breakfasts are overnight oats - two recipes I love are cherries and chocolate chips, or peanut butter and banana.
I love chia seed pudding - chia seeds soaked overnight in coconut cream with added berries.

I wake up hungry but I've been doing intermittent fasting since June so I'm not eating breakfast. I thought it would be easier by now but I still wake up hungry.
-
If you REALLY want to up the breakfast... how about Grits and Grillades?!!!
-
I love kefir smoothies for breakfast!

My mom makes a big batch of winter squash soup a couple times a month, and we love it for breakfast.
I've also been eating a lot of baked oatmeal. I like the recipes found here https://www.budgetbytes.com/category/recipes/breakfast/oats/
This one was my breakfast all this week- it makes a big batch- only I substituted mashed banana for the apple sauce and added a 1/4 c. coconut oil(I like a little richness)

I'm with you! I have never been a breakfast person but a nice cup of tea or coffee with cream hits the spot. I'm doing a 16:8 intermittent fasting so I don't start eating till noon anyway so that works really well for me. Then I guess I technically have breakfast afternoon, lunch around 4 and dinner around 6. I'm on keto so I'd like to find some breakfast dishes that are more interesting than just something with eggs almost every day haha.
-
I'm doing intermittent fasting too! I actually have not been hungry which really surprised me, except for last night. I had less than 800 calories yesterday so by around 10pm I felt hungry. I was hungry all morning so I just drank alot. Drinking lots of water helps me.

Found this in the latest issue of Forks over Knives.

@Gail H I do something similar but add either kidney beans, chick peas or such and include any veg that needs using up. We have it for brunch regularly. My go to is rolled oats, flax seed and chia seed. Cooked in water in a saucepan. While cooking, I add teaspoon turmeric powder, cinnamon and a dollop of honey. I serve that up with yoghurt, walnuts ,fruit and psyllium husk. Keeps you going all day. We never eat breakfast before 9.30am.

That looks so good. I'm on Keto so my breakfast is pretty much always eggs haha.

Breakfast/brunch is my very favorite meal to eat out! I love trying new things for breakfast. Thanks for the inspiration.

Breakfast. The best meal of the day!

I do a chia seed pudding of sorts. Chia seeds soaked in full fat coconut milk over night. Then in the morning I dice up some apple, add a little sunflower and sesame seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, goji berries, a spoonful of raw crunchy almond butter and a squeeze of fresh orange juice. Mix it all together and top it with fresh fruit.😋
Then when I'm feeling like something savory I love leftover meat, roasted veggies and eggs for breakfast.😋

Just came across this today https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/oats-recipes-oatmeal-recipes/
I love Indian food and I love oats, so win-win. If you're not familiar with Indian cooking you might need to look a few words up but most of the recipes look pretty straightforward.

@blevinandwomba Nice link! I see a lot of great ideas there. Thank you.

So, a certainly politician said that Americans have to stop eating hamburgers for breakfast... now, I crave them! Somehow, nothing is better in the morning than a cheeseburger with onions and jalepenos... or a beef hotdog with mustard, onions chili, and slaw or mustard, onions, hot sauce and kraut! The only thing that would be better would be if I could moon said politician while eating..... then have some nachos and a beer because I'm self employed and I can!

This is pretty much what I do. I've actually been wondering recently if there are ways to make my morning coffee healthier -- like nutritives I can add to it or something. I haven't figured that out yet, but it's been a recurring thought lately....

I just have never really been very hungry at breakfast. When my kids are home from college I make a bag of breakfast burritos and keep them in the freezer that way if they want breakfast before going to work (otherwise they sleep until 1 or 2 pm) they can pull one out and heat it up.

Coffee is usually my breakfast now. Breakfast is now frequently around noon for me. So I figure any thing goes.
