Raspberry Walnut Torte
This is a recipe I made every year for Valentine's Day for about 14 years straight; note all the stains on the page. It is quite possibly the best cake I've ever eaten. I got the recipe from a Pillsbury Desserts Cookbook. Enjoy!

naomi.kohlmeier Oooh, thank you so much for sharing! I'm going to try this recipe with sprouted flour and some plant sweeteners! I have been hunting for a delicious and dense raspberry genoise-type cake ever since I tasted the best one ever at my sister's wedding. This one looks simple enough to prepare and just might satisfy my craving! Have you ever tried it with another fruit other than raspberries?
-
No. I love raspberries so much, I never even thought of trying another fruit. I'm sure strawberries or any type of berry for that matter would be delicious.
-
Wonder if this would be good with blueberries? Hey- someone gave me blueberry barbecue sauce- now that was really good- i had never thought of it.
-
Blueberry barbecue sauce? No way! Sounds exotic... and strangely, I'm imagining the two flavors melding together on my taste buds, and it's surprisingly delicious... haha! Was this a homemade sauce from your friend (that you may have a recipe to share from🙂), or is this a store-bought product? I can just taste the undertone of the berries in a BBQ glaze on some yummy ribs or chicken...mmm!

You're right, it may be best to stick with berries for this cake! I absolutely love raspberries too, so I may just double those in the recipe... hehe! I was thinking I would just use the flour I have on hand (all purpose einkorn), but is there something special about the Pillsbury Best all purpose flour that determines whether this cake turns out properly? Apologies - I should have thought to ask you this in my previous comment.
-
The reason it calls for Pillsbury Best is because Pillsbury put out the cookbook. :) I think einkorn would be lovely in it.

Look at those delectable layers! haha... so glad you shared this recipe. Thanks again! I really enjoyed preparing it to share with others. I made it for 12 people on Sunday and everyone savored it/absolutely loved it!! It makes my heart SO happy whenever people enjoy my cooking, since I do it out of love. It's rare that I myself enjoy any type of cake, but I really liked this one. I made the cake using einkorn and a blend of plant sweeteners... I did not decorate my cake as detailed and beautifully as yours (and I don't own a star-tip for the frosting technique), so I improvised. Next time I would like to try the star-tip as described in the recipe. Everyone who likes cake and the classic, delicious berry & sweet cream combo should try this recipe! =)

@happy-trails that looks wonderful! I'm glad you tried it, shared it and everyone liked it! I think it tastes great on day one and even better on day two (if there is any left over). I'm going to have to try substituting the flour and sweetener. Thanks for sharing the photos and information.

Thanks for sharing. With walnuts, raspberries, and whipped cream, it has no choice but to be delicious.
