Love this bed
This DIY bed has the plans in the March 2021 issue of Family Handyman. I was browsing that issue on my Magzter app.

Oh, wow, you could store a lot in there; my kids have had beds with drawers and they were wonderful. But I'd hate the edge on this model; I'm sure I'd bump my legs every morning. Probably you could make it without the edge.
-
Storage is always a plus! That's really nice but neither my husband or I are handy enough to build it though. Well unless in came from IKEA and all we had to do was put it together. 😀
-
I love this design, though I too would have shins bruised continuously!! Would have to make it closer to the same dimensions as the mattress!
-
That looks great! Storage is at a premium in our house too.

For anyone interested in seeing the plans. Here is the free PDF download of the magazine.

Love it but I know I would bump the sides. I wonder if you could make something to cover or pad the edges?
-
Alert****My anti-virus program detected a threat from my attempt to download the magazine!
@Jimerson You may want to investigate this.

My daughter has just purchased two hydraulic arms that will fit under the platform of her bed so that she can lift (tilt) the whole bed up for storage. That gives them about 60 cubic feet of extra storage in their tiny home.
-
That is so cool! I would love a bed with storage. Unfortunately I have no building skills whatsoever haha.
-
Super cool looking but it's bad feng shui to keep stuff under the bed!
-
@Sharie i learned something new today; thanks. I don’t have anything under mine...
-
Love the storage but I'd definitely have black and blue shins. Of course if I was handy enough to make it, I'd be handy enough to modify the design :)
-
@Sharie Oops, about the bad Feng Shui. @annbeck2 I think we can just adjust the bed dimensions or add a bumper like they do in daycares to avoid the shin bumping.
-
You can access the article from this link too, if the other is problematic
Yes, I would seriously love that bed. I already put a lot under the bed, but it's not very organized.
-
The design should be very easy to modify. Just making the center smaller.

I didn't know about the relationship between Feng Shui and under bed items. Several years ago I bought huge plastic bins on rollers, filled them with clothes and put them under my bed to expand storage. It was an odd site when I pulled them out after six to ten months. I don't know the principle, scientific reason or what happened, but there was moisture on the floor under the bins. It was what I imagine a vapor barrier would be like - vapor came up from the basement and couldn't get passed the plastic so it collected and started to mildew. Yuck! I took everything out (the clothes were dry and fine) from under the bed and never put anything under it (on purpose) again.
We built a platform bed like this for my daughter during her first pregnancy. I'm surprised they have any toes left. Every time I'm near the bed, I knock mine against the corners/edges and wince for five minutes. I think a cantilevered platform would be more to my liking where the platform in just a bit shy of the mattress edge.

It's really bad to put things like old boyfriend photos under a bed. It will keep a person single lol! Feng shui is pretty interesting. Some things are a little too superstitious for me but having the energy flowing correctly in a home or garden seems to make quite a difference.

This is not a website or download that The Grow Network has created or supports. There is not much I can do to correct any issues that the download may have. If you suspect there is a virus in the download, you may want to contact https://freemagazines.top website's support.

@Jimerson Thanks for the link. My concern was whether or not TGN wanted to limit access to information to protect its users.

@LaurieLovesLearning I'll hand this one over to our exceptional mod team leader :D

@shllnzl I am not fully sure what you mean by your comment, but the are a lot of off site links posted here daily. There is always a risk when any link is posted and also when it is clicked on.
If you are concerned with viruses, you are doing well to have a good program installed and also do as @Jimerson suggested. I have found that some programs are more sensitive than others.
Does that answer your query?
-
@Jimerson @LaurieLovesLearning Yes, things are good with me. I do have an effective anti-virus program.
In the future, if I experience anything odd with a link, I will continue to post it in the discussion thread so others are alert to any possible problems.
