Yucca Schidigera Extract

I came across a product for a sweeter smelling chicken coop. It contained the extract Yucca Schidigera.
I found a study that claimed that broilers grew better with this additive to their feed. Another study that I read that Japanese quail eggs were larger but had thinner shells.
There are other claims that it rebuilds cartilage and is good for arthritis. Another claim is that it reduces fecal odor if given to animals (it is in cat, dog, horse, poultry, pig & some other animal feeds). It also reduces ammonia in aquatic environments. It is used as a digestive aid in race horses. I also read that it may be a potential biofungicide on sorghum plants as indicated in a study.
You have to be careful to get pure extracts with extra fillers and chemical preservatives, I read. I read that some of those only contain 10% of the extract.
There is a lot of information here:
I will post more info as I run across it.
@torey Could you add anything to this information?

Yucca is one of those plants that I am not very familiar with. Partly because it doesn't grow here, partly because it was never mentioned in any of my classes and mostly because of very little research. I know that it has medicinal properties (anti-inflammatory, antilipidemic, antioxidant) that may be of use for treating osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, digestive issues. etc.
I found this study (just the abstract) that may help explain its uses for keeping down odours. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/241335692_Actual_and_Potential_Applications_of_Yucca_Schidigera_and_Quillaja_Saponaria_Saponins_in_Human_and_Animal_Nutrition
Its antiprotozoal properties are very interesting.
