How do you dye your Easter eggs?
How do you dye your Easter eggs?
This is how we do it:
Collect young leaves and flowers.
Cut thin cloth in squares big enough to wrap an egg
Place herbs on a cloth in an ornament you wish
Place an egg on the herbs and carefully wrap it with a cloth and tighten the cloth with a thread
Fill a pot with onion skills and cold water
Put the eggs into the pot, bring to boil and boil for 10 minutes
Let eggs cool down in the liquid and remove the cloth
Dry the eggs and lubricate with oil
Enjoy the result.
Happy Easter if you celebrate and have a lovely spring day, if you don’t.

@jolanta.wittib so beautiful! I saw on our local News that another way to dye them that you can eat is to hard boil them then peel them. Boil 2 beets (do not need to peel) for pink, 2-3 tbsps. of Turmeric for yellow and mix a little beet & turmeric for orange. Then what the person demonstrating did was take the yolks and made deviled eggs.

@Lisa K Thank you! I did not think about it. Next year I will try with other colours - with beet root and Tumeric!

@jolanta.wittib Those are gorgeous! I've heard you can dye them with kombucha too!

@COWLOVINGIRL with kombucha? How?
-
@jolanta.wittib Here is a link. I was slightly mistaken. She used kombucha vinegar, but used onion skins too. Sorry! Still pretty cool.
