CL in goats
Has anyone here had any experience with CL in goats? I have 4 healthy goats but one of them developed an abscess. I’m hesitant to lance it and risk exposing everyone in case it is CL, but also feel maybe I should test it. It seems there are two schools of thought if they test positive- cull the animals, or let them live with it. Most advice out there appears to be from people who have never seen it in their herd.

@Megan Venturella check out this article, seems its very contagious, especially if the abscess is open. Separating from the herd etc becomes problematic etc. stressful for your goat and you. I’m sure someone like Doc Jones would be helpful.

@Megan Venturella CL is very contagious. I would have it tested just to give you peace of mind
I know people who have had ther animal put down if it was congtagious and others who kept it and treated it. But once one has the disease its hard to keep it out of the herd. I would all animals out of tehr area where that goat was.
How is it doing?
