Whats your latest farm land adventure or activity?
You don't have to have a farm or land to post whats happening in your backyard, patio or land.
Today I had to move perennials to be able to put a group of chickens out in a new penned area. I have my chickens penned I planned to move bit a few chickens free ranging while I was out. Of course these chickens had to help me dig and pot up plants. I have to admit they are not the best potters so I took a break and sprinkled Flock Party Grains on my one potting soil pile and let them dig it up for me and add some fertilizer at the same time. It will be ready to use tomorrow and all fluffed up for me for easy digging.
I had some eggs I left behind hoping some chicken would decide to go broody but no luck until today. My thought was if they did not lay on them I would harvest them. Later this afternoon I had one happy broody hen. I will make her her own 4 by 4 enclosure and wait.
I thin k my own Pekin is going broody but since we have no drake she is wasting her time. But I plan to call a friend and get some fertilized eggs from her for my duck.
I plan to start my baby goats on mixed goat milk so I can harvest goat milk and start making cheese. They will also be off moms milk soon so I want to get a bond you have with goats if you bottle feed them even for a week. One's a little thinner 6than the rest so we will fatten her up.
I am enjoying todays sun and warmth as its supposed to chill off the rest of the week.

Took the time yesterday to get a lump clump of yarrow out of the danger zone. Dad and his evil mechanoid (aka lawnmower) would have taken them right down.
Chatted with the neighbor about her new beehive. She got the same one that I bought for my sister.

@RustBeltCowgirl There seem to be a lot of evil lawnmowers and tractors in the world.
I pointed out yarrow at my nieces that she needs to move. Shes just learning plants and their uses so she was pleased to have such a nice plot growing but tis right in the lawnmowers path of destruction.
That reminds me I have some that needs rehomed too

Today is cold and damp so I am indoors planting more seeds. I was hoping it would be nice enough to pick up ther yard, move plants and possibly mow but it will be a indoor dirt digging day. My mind needs that. I find soil relaxes me more than anything else

We got a skiff of snow last night, but indoors is where things are happening.
I have my styrofoam & mini brinsea (for 7 regular eggs) incubators' temp & humidity stabilized and ready to receive special eggs tomorrow. What a time learning how to salt calibrate my thermometer/humidity sensors! They come in in the early morning & they will be set by evening. Thirty-six are in transit.
I still need to clean out the redwood to possibly be a dedicated hatcher this year.
Today, we are picking up 15 quail chicks. The hutch is made, the heat mat is on. We have the bedding, just picked up the higher protien food, and checked on little bell waters (I have a chick waterer & marbles in the meantime).
We will certainly have to watch our basement cats once these little feathered things get home, but we've had to do similar in the past. I bet the quail will be closely and constantly hunted/observed.

My farm adventure involved fixing mower tires (see the Mower Tires posting if interested). My husband had declared God didn't want him to be a farmer and he wasn't doing anything ever again after our tires kept going flat the past few weeks.
Well, he's back in the saddle so to speak after fixing them thanks to @jodienancarrow .

I just planted a whole bed with lettuce and kale and mustard greens! And my peas are coming up!
-
Peonies in the ground! They really should be planted in the fall, but some times you just gotta do what you gotta do.
I'm starting to grow a wedding garden. I am a civil celebrant and think it would be fun to have couples come out to the farm, pick flowers for their ceremony and hitch them. Dahlia, Ranunculus, Hydrangea, Sunflower and other fun things are just waiting to get started.

I reinforced a garden fence my dogs keep jumping over😑
I transplanted some tomatoes and peppers to bigger pots and they were like ahhhhh😂
I clipped some mint to dry.
I thought about starting more seeds but I'm not thinking I'll have a ton more room once the tomatoes get ginormous.

@frogvalley What a spectacular & very fun idea!

MY pekin duck is laying on eggs. Pekins don;t usually go broody so I am happy, but since I do not have a drake, she is sitting on duds. Later today I am picking up fertile eggs for her to hatch out.
And she had 4 chicken eggs under her. I was hoping a chicken would go broody so I could move them, but no such luck. I read that a duck could hatch a chicken egg but there is the possibility that the chick will suffer from a long egg hatching time, plus I am adding duck eggs. so, I have to figure out what to do. Get my one very reliable silkie to go Broody? Borrow or buy an incubator?
Oh farm life decisions...

Duck, yum! Did you know they don't carry the same salmonella risk as eggs? Great! Right? Well, I thought so and then I ate one.....and got very sick. It turned out that round 'bout 55+ I turned allergic to duck eggs AND then duck meat. Total bummer because I love it.
