Never heard of "rooing" sheep
It's a form of hair removal that isn't shearing. Although if I were the sheep in the first picture, I'd be crying too.

@RustBeltCowgirl no, I’ve never heard of the rooing term either. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Dorpers, a breed of sheep gaining popularity in Australia. Originally they come from South Africa and were bred to be meat sheep that perform in arid areas, that also shed their wool. This makes it easier for farmers to farm them as shearing and the infrastructure needed, is avoided. I imagine their wool would be different because of geography but the same principle.
you never fail to come up with interesting facts and information, your enquiring mind is a credit to you.

Yes, I have heard of Dorper sheep. I can see the farm kids running around grabbing clumps of wool stuck to trees and bushes.

@RustBeltCowgirl yep maybe encourage kids to collect it from around the paddocks, so it can be used as mulch. Apparently it works well as mulch but I’ve never used it.
