Eastern Eyed Click Beetle

Wow! What a strange looking beetle! It's kind of beautiful too. Reminds me of the "eyes" on moths. Found it on my storm door.

We were a little freaked out a first but then thought - it's day time so those nasty palmetto bugs aren't out yet.

Went out and took it's picture and it never moved. Thought how weird - it looks like it has pollen on it.

Looked it up and seems to be crop friendly. Eating other bugs and larva.

We had one of those in our backyard one year. When I touched it it made a clicking sound and flipped over. It kind of freaked me out, but, it's what they do. :)

@naomi.kohlmeier My husband flicked it off of the screen which took several tries because it was holding on tight. When it finally fell off he touched it and it made the clicking sound and flipped over as well. He said it was the craziest thing he'd ever seen.
