Need to Relax? 17 hammock plans
With "Heck" week (aka Annual Physical Inventory) over, and this year was really bad; I need to relax. Here's 17 hammock plans that just might be helpful.

OK, I have some bits of awning fabric, so I could make one of these....
I've never been in a hammock--they look as though they are hard on the back. Are they?

@Annie Kate I find a hammock very relaxing but then I haven't been on a hammock in ages.

I'm not a big fan of hammocks. I get motion sickness very easily (I only have to watch a show on TV about high waves and I am nauseous).
But my daughter is a big fan so I will forward this on to her. I'm sure she will be wanting to make some of these designs.

@Annie Kate I find ours comfortable. If you make one, make it wide & strong enough to be able to hold two fairly heavy grown adults. A wide hammock is much nicer in my opinion.
@RustBeltCowgirl Did you see the basket hanging in the foreground in that picture? I think that hanging something delightfully edible and or fragrant within easy arms reach of the hammock would add to the relaxation bliss.

I have the parts (frame) for a hammock and had planned to make a new one. I think this is the kick I need to get it done. Thanks for posting @RustBeltCowgirl
@LaurieLovesLearning love your idea of a edible hanging basket near by.

I haven't used a hammock in a very long time. I will have to get one or make one lol!

I have a hammock with a bug screen that I have never used! Got it at an exceptional price just before I moved from Idaho to Missouri. I know what closet that box is in...I think it's time to unpack it and try it out. I don't have any trees here, but I bet I can find a hammock stand locally if I look!

@Mary Linda Bittle, West Plains, Missouri This might help.

I will need to think about how to make one with the bug screen. We have mosquitoes here that can just about carry you off. And I react badly to pretty much anything that bites. Had pretty much decided I either could not have a hammock or had to put it inside a large screened gazebo or something. Might have to rethink my ideas.

@vickeym this is the one I got. Might give you ideas about how to make one.

Mary Linda Bittle, West Plains, Missouri, that is interesting. Will definitely have to study that one.

I love my hammocks. (Yes I have a few) A few years back I tried making one with not any particular idea of dimensions. Way too small. So I broke down and bought one, a Hennessy hammock. It is a complete camping system with bug net and tarp. Love it. And since I also love to sleep in my hammock in the house when it is hot out, I didn't need the bug net or tarp, so I got myself and ENO for that purpose. Still need to make myself portable stand or spend too much for an already made one. So far, I have just put some brackets on the walls in one bedroom to hang my hammock on. Such a comfortable way to sleep and wake up in the morning without a back ache which is usually the case when I sleep in a bed.

Oh I wish I had a place to put a hammock! Although the only time I used one once I had trouble getting in it 😂.
