Fruit drinks

Has anyone experimented with creamy fruit drinks that include yogurt or whole fruits?

There is evidence that our bodies' satiety mechanisms don't "see" calories in liquids, so they get added on to solid calories rather than replacing them, making us gain weight.

So the best fruit drinks will be more like smoothies than apple juice.

Look up (Asian) Indian lassi drinks for good examples. I've made some excellent drinks based on apple juice in free-form lassi recipes.

    I have used yogurt in smoothies but do prefer avocados for that creamy texture. Actually ice cubes also add to the creamy texture. I use fruits, bananas, peaches, nectarines, apples, celery, strawberries, and pears.

    @VermontCathy So what I see you are saying is that calories in beverages are not recognized by the body? Did I hear that right?

    @monica197 Not recognized by the satiety mechanisms in your body. So you are getting the calories to use for energy, or to store as far, but you will still be hungry because your body thinks you aren't consuming calories.

    ohhh - got it - so you have to eat more calories in the end to feel full
