Labor day
My husband and I had a very nice day today. We worked on the garden, fixing some fence posts that were crooked from a wind storm we had last winter. Then he fired up the grill and cooked some chicken for dinner. I prepared a peach crisp from some peaches a friend gave us. It was sunny and not too hot. All in all, a very nice day. Hope that all of you had a good day too.

I got to spend the whole day in the mountains. Didn't get home till nearly 8:00. It was wonderful. I hadn't been out that way in awhile so it was nice to see the area again. Found a patch of shaggy manes so I cooked that up as soon as I got home.

Sounds wonderful! I haven't been getting into the mountains much lately. Used to love going up on a fairly regular basis.

Got a batch of applesauce canned. Will be working on Spaghetti sauce. Sorted through some more stuff to continue the decluttering.
Completed the online assessment for a job I applied for. That was a "crash and burn"; I never use any of that in my current job. I will probably see a "Sorry. Play again" letter from that one.

I picked raspberries, 3 gallons of them, and froze them. Cooked cornbread, a roast and apple crisp but half the family were not able to be home for supper. Oh well, with the youngest at 19 we are at that stage.
And I prepared for teaching next week, which is new for me, and I'm wondering at my sanity for accepting a job which startsduring the harvest. I will have to be so terribly focused until everything is frozen, dried, or canned!

Yesterday was a calm quiet day here.
I potted up plants, took two long walks and just enjoyed the day.

My three son, my husband, and I spend most of the day at a local state park. We did some foraging, taught the kids a bit about plant identification, and spent some time in the lake. My husband brought his shot gun in hopes of getting a goose or duck but no such luck. It was a great day! I'm glad to hear that so many people had a great holiday also!

@RustBeltCowgirl Good luck on getting a the job that you want. Wow, all that canning. Something I really need to get busy on. Have lots of pears and apples to put up.
@Annie Kate My black berries are calling me. I have one gallon frozen. I also have more blueberries to get frozen.
@Monek Marie, @Michelle D We do see to get caught up in all the "things we have to do" and forget we also need to take time out and just enjoy.

Sounds like you guys had a much more peaceful Labor day than we did. My daughter has been looking for a car and ended up buying one on Labor day. We spent all day at the car place and finally left as the sun was setting! I'm glad she finally found one but wow are cars expensive now!! Used cars prices have sky rocketed and new car prices are just crazy because of the chip shortage. We found new car prices between $3K & $7k above sticker price!!!! So crazy!! At one dealership someone had offered even more over the price! We weren't sure how someone right out of college with her first real job would be able to afford the least expensive car with all that. Luckily, she found one at Car max. So, we spent Labor day being a bit stressed!!!

@marjstratton Thanks for the encouragement. It's a toss up. Get a new job and bail the current job now or retire from the current job and find a new one in Feb. Time to get out of where I'm at.
-
@RustBeltCowgirl I know all too well about needing to get out of the job I was in. I had the advantage that I was ready to retire and even though I had planned on working a few more years, I just needed to get out of there for my sanity!
-
I relaxed a little and got homework done. I feel much less productive now though.

Unfortunately it wasn't much of a holiday for me. My husband was working and my family was busy so I spent alot of the day studying and working on schoolwork but it wasn't a bad day by any means :) .

Yes, taking time to just enjoy. That is so important. Thank you for the reminder. With puppies, harvest, and a new job I have just been too busy.
